Hi all.

I tested out and fell in love with an '08 MIA Standard Strat (3-color sunburst with maple fb) and I've been dreaming about it for the last few weeks. Well, today I went to my local GC and put money down on it to hold it and hope to take it off "layaway" in the next 45 days or so. Wow, what a guitar. I currently have a 2007 MIM arctic white and love it so much (after having played an LP as my only electric) that I decided to try this MIA.

My MIM is a GREAT guitar but now I know why everyone talks about how good the MIAs are. The neck is fantastic and the pickups sound great. Plus, I finally get a tone control for my bridge pickup! Anyway, I'm so excited to have been turned onto the Strats and now I just want to add to the collection. Now to break the news to the wife . . .

He's just informing her, that's all. Most of us are way beyond forgiveness on this stuff, aren't we?

I'll ask for forgiveness when I bring the guitar home. It's a little easier than asking for permission, in my experience.

Luckily she's very supportive of my "habit". Gotta love a woman who's supportive. After nearly 19 years of marriage, I'm still wondering how I got so lucky. (Maybe I'll get her to read this thread to lessen the pain of the purchase

I send along my good wishes, too.

I was never in a situation where I could put the words "understanding" and "wife" in the same sentence. :(

Uh-oh... Do you want to talk about it, man? Sit down, pull up a comfy chair. Now begin at the beginning: for some reason, she just wasn't interested in guitars, is that right...?

Thanks for the offer, but there is no need. She's long gone. Truth be told, she bought me my first Strat. It was the 2nd thru 6th Strats where there was a problem. And the Tele. And Jazzmaster. Cyclone. P-Bass. Assorted amps and stompboxes. She wasn't around for the recording equipment and software . . .

Significant others aside...congrats on the strat man. Enjoy it, no matter how much trouble you get in. It's a new strat, it's worth it.

After twelve years of marriage and more guitars then I can remember, my wife is numb to new guitars coming into the house so I don't have that problem anymore. But she gets even with the Home Shopping Network!

Oh yes, my wife gets even too. If I can spend $1500 on a toy there's no way in hell I can tell her no if she wants to. Them's just fightin words.

I'm incredibly lucky that I found the "right" wife. All that aside, I still get in trouble every now and again with toy purchases. I guess if money grew on trees it wouldn't be a problem. Of course, then there wouldn't be that "next purchase" jones that we all get since we could have whatever we wanted whenever we wanted. Wait a minute, that doesn't sound too bad after all.

By the way, here's a pic of my new git from Fender's web site. I'll post actual ones once I bring it home.
