DP has the VN's. Generally, these have a reputation of being a smooth and quiet pickup, with a unique tone. They are also known for being super quiet, which is especially appreciated in the studio (so if you will be doing a lot of recording, this should be a strong consideration for you). A lot of people really like them. Also, they are not cheap, either. As I said before, I do not have enough experience using them personally to give you any strong opinion -- I am just telling you what I know to be true.

DR has the Texas Specials.
These are an alnico-5 pup, which is (I believe) the strongest magnet. These are great for heavy or clean, providing lots of Strat ooompff and tonal variations. These are just a solid, solid pickup. Really great.

now for me. i'm not so sure about quiet p-ups. i mean. you get a guitar with say the texas specials and dial in a nice clean or distorted sound. can't you just turn the volume down a lil' ? :D i guess i'll have to find a way to get to play one to really see for myself.
