Hello,

I want to buy a 1992 Fender American Standard Stratocaster off a person. I just want to check if it's authentic or not as I'm not sure about the color. Attached are the photos. The serial number is N1018907.

Hey WF,

It looks like a legit American Standard to me, ‘91 to ‘92.

Based on those four pics only (they're good pics, but all from the outside and not from the best angles), looks legit.
The color looks like Sherwood Green Metallic.
The aging of the plastics and the strap buttons look a bit weird - IMHO.
Inside pics might help tell if it's all-original.

Hey thanks for the reply! So, Fender do offer Sherwood Green Metallic color in the 90s?

The Sherwood green Metallic is not on the basic pricelist menu, but there are enough late eighties/early nineties instruments with that color to say it's been in use. (PS: computer screens lie a lot, but that guitar looks really green, not something bluish like Aqua Marine Metallic.)

BTW, one fun Fender fact: if you take the pricelists as absolute truth, there are no green (any shade) AmStandard Strats from that era.

But remember: web diagnosing can only go so far. If you have doubts, check things like Micro-Tilt; neck pocket/heel stickers, stamps & markings; electronics etc.

The strap buttons are for Schaller Strap Locks.

Certainly on a 1993 Strat Plus I owned. Don't know about a Standard.

Cheers - Peter.

Umm...just an aside but i think that the serial number places it as a 1991. (N for nineties followed by a 1)

Fender uses serial number schemes well into the next year. So the N1 is 91 - 92.
