My first strat was a Highway 1. I still own it so that sums it up! Pics to follow. Oh yeah it is getting naturally reliced very nicely. My AmDlx was purchased about two months after the HW1 and still looks pristine. Both get the heck played out of em!

I've heard some very good things about the Hwy 1 on different forums. I had a chance to try one out side by side with an American Strat and I came away liking the Hwy 1 better. IMO it sounded better playing classic/hard rock through it. I'll probably do one more comparison but right now I'm leaning on buying it soon.

We recently gave away the Highway One HSS guitar that was used in all of our marketing materials... I had the opportunity to play it several times while it was in our department and I must say I LOVED IT!!! I loved it so much that I have been slowly saving for one ... But, I keep spending my $$$ on Star Wars merchandise

Hwy one are the best of vintage and modern specs. I really dig them
22 frets, nitro finish & excellent pickups. why buy something else....when everything is already combined in this guitar!!!

The black one is just a Highway 1 body... but i love the way it makes the guitar sing. It is outfitted with an American Standard neck and Lace Holy Grails.

The sunburst is a pre-upgraded Highway 1 with texas specials... My favorite guitar!!!! I polished this one with some guitar polish... is that the same as "buffing it out?"

Actually, buffing the guitar out is a great idea; one we recommend. That way, it ages from your playing, giving you a personalized guitar. The thin lacquer finish is great; you can polish it, check it, and wear it out. Like a Custom Shop guitar for under 1K.

Enjoy

I've considered doing this with my Blonde 03 Highway One Strat but was concerned about possibly applying the wrong kind of polish to the thin finish. Any particular type you recommend? I know it's an opportunity for a shameless plug but I'm ok with that! :D

Thank you

Personally I bought my Highway 1 upgrade in Flat Black with the Satin finish because I really like that look. No plans on shining it up.

I have an '03 Highway 1 strat...

Two problems I can find...

One, the tuning stability is somewhat poor, goes out of tune even after bending strings alone, I think the nut is the one giving me the problem...

Two, I really dislike the pups in mine, they sounds somewhat weak and too darn trebley...

But other than that, I can't complain much for now...

I had the same issue with mine - tuning stability. Bought some schaller locking tuners, slapped 'em on in about 45 min and problem solved! highly recommended!

Hey cajun...I would love to see a pic of your Daphne!

And I could not agree more...this is the best value in town and a GREAT set of pups on the upgraded versions. I even like the Atomic pickup for humbucking. It has a good humbucker tone with just a hint of Strat in there somewhere. The Greasbucket tones are VERY usefull as well.

I wonder what a double coil Alnico 3 would sound like in the bridge. :?: With the ability to split from humbucking to single coil, that would be the best of both worlds! (hint...hint)

This, too, is a BEAST!!

I have an '07 Highway One (not HSS) and I'm just realizing that the pickups' output is pretty weak - I AB'd it with my 80s MIJ strat, and it actually is quieter / tinnier.

HWY1Strat, sounds like you'd done your fair share up pickup upgrades - Emery Fry, any input would be great too - do u think this will make a significant difference? I'm thinking about ponying up for those CS '69 pickups but I don't want to spend $200 for nothing...

I'm in a weird spot - my 80s strat with rosewood neck sounds better, but my HW1 with maple neck plays like a dream - i'd love to make it play AND sound better.

Any advice is appreciated - thanks!!
