I tried using the jam tracks (loops) in my G-DEC Jr but didn't find anything that sounded good with the song I wanted to play. So I changed my music so that it was basically the notes of my song, but played with improvisation so it would sound good with the jam track.

Is that the way you're supposed to use a jam track?

I've gone to You Tube and heard people playing with jam tracks that sounded bad for the song they were playing. Maybe they were just trying to shoehorn the jam track to their song and it didn't work out very well.

In any case, my little exercise last night with improvising using a song (rather than a scale) as the basis was a lot of fun and I'll be doing that some more.

I have some .wav files I put on my JamMan.

Some are several bars, some are just one bar. Some are just drums, others have the bass and rhythm guitar that I will layer a few rhythm tracks and then solo.

Its a great practice tool when alone, and although I have never done it personally, I'm sure a competent person could use it live.
