Hello. I was hoping to see if any one here could help me out with something. I know an elderly gentleman that has a 1954 Fender Stratocaster. He is the original owner and bought the guitar way back in 1954.

He frequently sits in during our jam sessions and still has some skills.

Anyway, as you can imagin, alot of people are interested in buying his guitar and throwing all kinds of figures at him. He is not interested in selling as you can imagine he has alot of good memories in that guitar. My only concern is that no one takes advantage of him. I told him I would at least try and find out some sort of ball park figure for him as to what an instrument like that is worth. I would say the guitar is in fair condition. It still plays very well and the tone is amazing. It has the normal scuffs and knicks associated with a 53 year old guitar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone can at least point me in the right direction that would be great too!

Thanks again,

Ken Pacheco

Best thing to do is to have it professionally appraised.

Sounds like that's the best way of getting a good number. Thanks for your reply.

If everything is original on the guitar, make sure he doesn't replace a thing. Do not unsolder any wires. That can cause the value of the guitar to drop.

THe guitar is ALL original. Its in fair shape. The tuners need some lubing, and it has some scratches and scuffs....something you would expect to see in a guitar that has been used moderately. I would say on a scale from 1 to 10, its probably a 7 or so. Still sounds great and plays well. The action is great and all electronics and parts work great.
