A Harley?
I could buy me two more Yamaha R6s with that kind of money, and then me and two friends could all go riding together. Probably still have some money left over for a Mexi-Strat.

Ah, this is like the MIM vs MIA debate. In 30 years will your Yamaha be worth triple what you paid for it? My Harley was.

Sorry... I had to put in my 2 cents. And back to the topic... I can't imagine spending $20,000 on a guitar that was butchered to meet the needs of a player that doesn't play like me. In another post someone said something like "My most comfortable shoes will hurt your feet." That is soooooo true. If I had $20,000 to spend on a guitar, I'd hire a professional luthier to build one to my exact specs. One that would be MY perfect guitar, not someone elses.

Doubt it'll triple in value, but I don't see Harley's doing that either.

The 50th Anniversary R6 sitting in my garage however has NOT dropped in value since I bought it.

20k for a guitar? No, probably not ever. It's much easier to just buy an American Standard or Deluxe from a shop if I ever broke something than to have to wait on a Fender Custom Shop artist to build me a guitar (or rebuild if I break something).

The most interesting aspect about the guitar is that it is an EXACT replica in every respect imaginable. Don't confuse this with a "signature model". This is just one door down from playing Eddie's real one.

Important notes:
1) This is a collector's item. I doubt if any of these guitars will be played. They will all end up on walls of people that make wayyyyyyyy more money than we do.

2) I am never going to play Eddie's real one (or David Gilmour's, or Jeff Beck's). But I'd sure like to if I were given the chance. It would be very interesting to play one of these EVH replicas to get an idea of what Eddie uses, what he likes, to see how he likes his guitar set up. That is, I am much more interested in just playing one for a bit than actually owning one.

3) Let's address this guitar for what it is ... a hodge podge of medium-grade (at best) components that were put together by Eddie (who has good skills for doing so). Thus became a nice instrument, one that Eddie clearly liked over his others. Okay - but at the end of the day - it is still just a hodge podge of medium-grade (at best) components.

4) I am a huge fan of Eddie. Huge. Really huge. But I like to play guitars, not collect guitars. Because of that, this guitar to me is interesting, and I'd like to play one. But - for me - I guess it ends there...

If $20,000 is to much...check out the Warmoth guitar site - plenty of people have built their own EVH guitars. In the spirit of Eddie's DIY attitude, why pay $20,000 for something like that when HE built his own instrument?
Doesn't make sense.

I think it is great for the serious EVH fans but what can you do with it that hasn't already been done? (just a thought :?)

You can get the Charvel version. It's about 2500.00. It even comes with a lose knob! :(
