Beautiful Murray strats!!!
Just watched this video....made me think it was 1985 all over again!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5uCL2xBfb0
Some questions, as I want to do this to a strat someday...(sorry if you've answered these already)
1. Did you have to route neck for humbucker?
2. Did you do an push/pull pots for single coil sounds?
3. I noticed in the video I posted of Dave, he appears to have a vintage trem, and he's using it pretty hard, but doesn't go out of tune. Any advice here?
Should I mod a Strat Floyd Rose or get a strat with a vintage trem?
Thanks!

Yes you have to route out the neck area if you have a Highway 1. I didn't use push-pulls on mine. I personally like vintage trems over floating. Here are my tips for getting a vintage to work smoothly.

1: tear the trem completely apart.
2: File the top of the trem block so you know it's absolutely flat
3: Using a Dremel tool with a pointed medium grinding stone, round over the holes where the strings exit the block. Then take an old Lo E string with some valve lapping compound an buff it up a bit.
4: Take the top plate and fine grinding stone to round over the exit holes in the plate. I then use Blue Loc-Tite to reattach the top plate to the block.
5: Using the fine grinding stone again, slightly round over the top and bottom of the front breaking point of the saddles. Therefore creating a totally rounded area at the saddle.
6: Use a quality lube for for all contact points. For the trem springs I use Guitar Grease. You can get this at Stew-Mac. I put this on the claw screws, the claw hooks and pack it in the holes were the spring goes to the block.
I use Graphitall for the contact points at the string trees, nut and saddle.

I can pretty much beat the hell out of my trem and it stays in tune. One of the imporant things I've learned over my 25 years of playing\ repairing guitars is when you get a new guitar with any type trem is this: beat the hell out of it. The new springs need to be broken in, so they get that "set" where they are more consistent.

Sorry for the big post, hope this helps some people out.

Don't know about the "Stratocruiser" thing. But both his and Adrian's are custom shop models. Dave use's Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in all 3 positions. Not sure about Adrian's bridge pup but he does use stock American standard pickups in the neck & middle. Janick uses Duncan JB Jr's in the neck and bridge.

I built my own strat that I made to exact specs as Daves guitar itself, Floyd Rose Trem, PAF and Super Distortion and the stock fender in the middle. Really sweet guitar i made it for about 600. my favorite guitar ill never sell it I recommend it for metal players its SWEET! I will try to post pictures as soon as possible.
