Hello, the tone of my Fender Stratocaster Am Std n ° N7206876 of 1997, bought that same year, is very singular. Many comparisons with this same model of guitar confirms to me as well as the opinion of other musicians. I would have liked you to inform me about the specifications of the pickups and the electronics of this guitar. Thank you in advance !

Hello there,

Pickups were AlNiCo V single-coils with flush polepieces (changed to staggered in 2000). DeltaTone system features a hot bridge pickup and no-load tone control for the middle & bridge pickups.

Controls include master volume, tone (neck), no-load (middle/bridge), 5-way blade switch.

Hope this information helps a lot.

I think this service diagram fits - it's dated 2000 but it's a "pre-millenium-upgrade" version:

The '97 electronics and pickups weren't special or unique. Same as '96, same as '98. A little different than today, but not drastically.

Some guitars are just special. You'd probably find that yours sounds different than identical '97s.

People have lots of theories about why that is. But no one really knows for sure -- if we did, manufacturers could make every guitar sound like the special ones.

Sometimes they're the wrong kind of "special" -- they don't sound as good as others of the same exact model.

My '78 Antigua was the right kind of special.
My '79 Anniversary was the wrong kind of special.

Must just point out - unless OP's in the UK. All my noughties American Standard/Series (whatever) Strats have flush poles. No, I have not adjusted them! That's how they came.

Cheers - Peter.
