Hi All
I am thinking of selling my Strat which I bought used about 30 years ago
Old age and arthritis is making it difficult for me to play my guitars
A friend of mine was playing my Strat recently and said he thought that it might be a copy and I wondered if anyone can help me to confirm if it is real before I sell it please
I will try to post some photos from my PC later as I can't see how to do it from my phone
Thanks Malcolm

Hi,
If you haven't yet gotten the answers, here's how to post pics:
Quote:
First you need to upload your pics to the internet. Use a pic hosting site (imgur, imgbb or such - avoid photobucket) or some common web framework like e.g. facebook, googlephotos - whatever you're familiar with.
The important thing is that the web site provides you with a pic address - that's the one starting with 'http' and ending in '.jpg'.

Copy the pic address, and use the IMG-command (visible when you write a message) on the forum.

Preview your post so everything is OK.

Picture work,

Sorry it is not a Fender guitar or is a part-o-caster ;from Squier ?

Serial number is for 1981 American made.
Peg head / neck si not American Fender. IMO neck must have the "big" peg head
Sadlles look wrong.
Tremolo spring cover is not a American Fender
One pickguard screw close to the pickups switch is at the wrong place.

Picture of control pots and switch will tell more

Definitely a fake.

"Made In USA"?

Not a freakin' chance!

:P
And if you sell it as such you are perpetrating a fraud.

It is never a good idea to lie about things you are selling anyway, especially in this case where the guitar is an obvious fake. Playing the "oh, I didn't know" card is bad mojo. That stuff comes back to you, sometimes in life's subtleties that one does not easily notice ... and sometimes by pissed off people with harsh words or worse. Just my opinion ...

I'm thinking Squier Bullet… Not original, though.
And BTW, how much leeway is in that "bought used about 30 years ago" timeline? Looks (a lot…) newer than thirtysomething.

Might help the ID/dating process if you'd take pics of the electronics under the pickguard, and neck end/neck pocket, but as said above, it's not a legit Fender.
