Modding my lone star strat to basically an Elite with P-rails humbucker. Looking at the elite wiring diagram, I cannot find anything that connects to the ground wire screwed into the body with a lug.

Can I just disregard that, or should I go ahead and ground that on a pot?

It's designed to be a part of the LoneStar grounding, so I would definitely solder it, even if the Elite is designed in another way (because of the Noiseless pickups, I presume).

I'll go ahead and solder it to a pot then.

Thanks!

Ya, the shielding is not critical on humbucker-equipped guitars.
I've had several Epiphone HH models... LP, SG, 335, as well as Hondo, and Kramer, plus a Partscaster with gold Lace Sensors.
None have had shielding paint, foil tape, or grounding lugs... Just the bridge ground running to the pot shells, with the jack and pickup grounds also soldered there.
Slight audible hum unless you were touching the strings, then dead silent.

My Fender and G&L guitars? Like a chain saw with the gain turned up....

Thanks CB91710,

I went ahead and soldered it to a pot along with the output jack ground wire and the bridge ground wire.

I have a lot of wires covering those pots!

The lug connects to the tone pot so I do not understand what you mean.
Maybe you have a different diagram :D

No, it's the HSS Shawbucker diagram: https://www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Orig ... 1-2017.pdf

BTW, @vocalnoise, following the procedures & answering questions would be easier if you'd keep all the questions on this wiring mod in the same topic instead of

Hi Jmattis,

I wasn't sure how to go about that . . . some forums want specific questions on different specific threads, some want all related questions in same thread. I'll keep questions regarding 1 project in same thread from here on.

Possible to create a new thread to just dump all of these threads into?

You wanna start yet another topic???
But seriously, just continue one of the topics you already started, anyone you choose. The unused ones will drop down on the headlines list - eventually.
I don't know a way to ditch a topic, even for the original poster.
And it may be even that the forum moderators can't do that - judging by the Brawl Stars Hack spam topics still lingering in just about every section...
