Hey guys so I have a 2017 Fender MIM strat but I like the idea of the S1 switch found on the Elite strats. I was thinking of re-wiring it to have the S1 switch and changing the neck/middle to V-mod and keeping the hot rails. It’s a 4 wire so it should be fine to split with the other 2 and still sound decent, yes? Or would I be better off just going with the full V-mod pack and saving the hot rails?

Has anyone used sigler?

Thanks for any insight!

I'm no wiring guru, but some pointers.

First, rewiring a MIM with an S1 to HSS is of course possible - most things are.
The Sigler harness in the link you added doesn't have the coil split option, though. But on the other hand, it has the AmDlx's special options; phases and series/parallels - do you want/need those..? If not, maybe the Deluxe Lonestar diagram would fit better: http://www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Origi ... A_SISD.pdf

On the company's quality: I have no personal experience with them, but haven't heard major complaints, either. I'd say a company that uses quality components usually has a decent solderer, too. Sigler, Emerson, ToneShapers, Art Of Tone etc. But of course, a good local guitar tech does the same jobs - and customizing the wiring is even easier.

Hot Rails can be split, but it depends on you if you like the result, and the same goes with the 'all V-mods' vs. HSS options.

BTW, calculate the costs of upgrading the MIM vs. getting a new (second hand) guitar; the V-mods alone are a 200$ investment. At least remember that upgrades usually don't up the price significantly, should you later want to sell the MIM.

If you are good with wiring, the S1 switch is simply a 4PDT switch. The center pad on each side is the common, and the button switches between the two outside pads.
Two switch opposite the other two.
As shown here, with the switch depressed, contact sets 1 and 2 connect anticlockwise, while contact sets 3 and 4 connect clockwise.
With the switch "up", contact sets 1 and 2 connect clockwise, while contact sets 3 and 4 connect anticlockwise.

You are correct, I am not sure why I initially was thinking coil split, I feel dumb for saying that! As far as series/parallel etc. I don't know what I "need" this mod is purely just for fun, for more options if you will. I did a lot of research and ended up getting a different harness for the guitar. 2nd tone becomes blender knob, middle tone becomes master tone for all 3 pickups as well as putting the middle pickup out of phase, volume is a push/pull coil split for the humbucker bridge. Neck/Bridge, neck/middle/bridge etc it creates a million fun options! Best part is volume is still volume, I'll now have a treble bleed circuit and all 3 pickups will have a tone and its totally reversible. As long as the push/pulls aren't engaged and the blender is off it's a standard 5 way strat!

But I love this guitar :) if I change the pickups it's because I plan on keeping it. I am leaning towards the original 57/62 now though. Havent decided, I want to wire this harness in and see how I feel about the ceramic pickups.
