There are several prior threads on this which you might access. It has been discussed at length in the past.

If ever there was a personal preference where neither was better than the other, this is it. For me, though, I prefer rosewood. I find it a tad softer, making it better for controlling bends and vibrato.

Maple has a warmer tone, shows less wear, wont gouge out and by far a better feel.

Ebony! It is like bending on ice! I love my ebony fretboard (maple neck).
I also have a fender strat with a custom neck made of solid bacodi wood.
(A rosewood... Small slow growing tree)

I have a rosewood neck on my strat, which I find gives a warm sound. On my Jazz bass I have maple, which I find gives me a nice slap sound. It's really personal preference...

Hello Koen Heeringa,

I wish for an ebony fingerboard,
but I'm happy with rosewood.

Cheers.

Hi Koen,

I have never heard that a maple fret board sounding warmer than rosewood.
For me I like the rosewood fret board (maple neck) for the "warmer" tone.

Cheers :D
