I sure do wish that this one was offered in the color code 03 Two Color Sunburst.

That would be awesome.

Black is OK, but I like the vintage look of the original sunburst ... maybe because I was around when it was the thing you got.

The colors were chosen by Eric. At the inception of the guitar 20 years ago, Eric wanted to get away from black. He is actually quoted as stating that he always wanted to have a guitar the color of a 7-Up bottle. Hence, green, red, and silver which converted to pewter. Not too long after, Eric decided: "Well we might as well have a black one" and so the Blackie prototype was built which Eric performed with for years and was sold at the second auction. The name "Blackie" was imprinted on the headstock for that guitar. We have also seen the guitar in white (my nephew owns one), and in gold.

If you want to invest the dollars, they will do one in what ever finish you choose, less the signature on the headstock.

I own one such guitar: SRV finish: gold hardware, all black plastic parts, Clapton neck, rosewood board, medium-jumbo frets, SCN pickups through the 25db TBX circuit,

You'll find my comments on the neck in another post response to Dewie69.

I have the Candy Green and it looks incredible. Lots of comments on it and not one was negative.

I had a "Blackie" of the first generation signature series. It was novel then, but too many white on black strats (PLEASE>>>no offense to those who own and prefer them) as I see it.

The pewter guitar which I just acquired was a fortunate find and I acted on that based upon finish as well.

I almost picked the pewter one, but I didn't have one to look at and all the pics I saw were more greyish. It wasn't until after I had my green one that I saw a pewter one and it looks sharp. Not regretting my choice, but either would have been the right one.

You have three uniquely different guitars, each with its own characteristic voice and appearance. Good selections.

Thank you....now if I could convince my better half of that, she'd use it less against me in an argument :D

I sympathize greatly. It's an impossible task enlightening the musically unindoctrinated in these matters. In the area of practice, for example, to hear a phrase repeated over, and over, and over, drives my wife into delerium. The very thought of bringing a piano into the house would be an anathema to me because to return to the study of piano seriously I would have to have an electonic instrument with headphones in order to practice.

One of our members actually owned up to the fact that he should have known his first wife was going to be a problem when he came to realize she did not share his passion for music. The second one actually buys his guitars. To be fair, so has mine, more for artistic than musically interests.

Keep the faith...and rock on!!

It's great to have a wife who supports your interests/hobbies. Mine keeps asking when I'm gonna get out and start playing at some of the local beach bars. She's great encouragement.

What was the original question again? LoL

Response: Yes...these chats often tend to float. But no matter. We've been there before. Venting is good for the soul, and besides, we have already earned our 'good works' merit badge, so what could be bad?
