I wish Fender would release a hardtail strat again. The only recent model I've seen is the Robert Cray signature.

Does anyone feel the same way? If there is demand it seems Fender would oblige.

Just screw down the tremolo.

I have immobilized trems before.
One of my Strats is currently blocked.
I prefer blocking them with hardwood wedges (both sides) over decking them with the claw screws and extra springs.
I think it feels more solid.

Just my preference is all.

It takes me a lot longer though.
I've never found a source of pre-made hardwood wedges so I make my own.
You can find softwood wedges of cedar for shimming windows and doors at a building supply but I want hardwood

Fender have obliged.
There isn't sufficient demand.

Isn't that what the Telecaster is for? Just kidding...because I have a Hardtail. It's very nice and does feel different to a decked or blocked trem.

I have one of the 500 "10 for 15" special run Hardtail MiAs and it is a absolute gem.

I'd be interested in playing one to see if there was a big enough difference between my 'decked' Strats. And if I liked what I was hearing and feeling, I'd consider buying.
Fender doesn't have to go out of their way for me though...I am perfectly happy with what I have.

My main perception is that of weight. You don't have a heavy trem block to lug around. I also like the purity and clarity. Trem block, springs, claw etc are all superfluous if you don't waggle. It makes the sound seem crisper.

On the down side, if you deck but don't block your trem, you can get a bit of give on big bends. I quite like that feel and the hard tail can feel a little sterile and harsh by comparison. A lot like bending on a Tele compared to bending on a conventional Strat.

All my Strats have some level of float but I wouldn't mind owning a hard tail strat.

Sign me up.
