I have owned this Squire for 25-30 years, it's serial number says it was made in Japan but the says Korea!

What gives?

25-30 years ago would have been the transition from the original "Squier" company to Fender ownership and use of the name "Squier".
Serial numbers of that era, particularly import models, are not as "set in stone" as many online serial number guides might lead us to believe.

The OP joined on Jan 21st, sent the question twice (the first post delay policy once again), and hasn't logged in since.
Anyways, might be time to let this/these gently go to sleep.
On that other topic ( https://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=113117 ), my answer was basically the same as yours. :)

Hi & sorry for the late answer...

They did make E-serial-number instruments in Korea, but those serials weren't recorded (or the records never reached Fender-US), so they can't be found in Fender's databases.

Fender really need to sort something on this if they have any interest in their forum (and that is probably the kicker). While very pleasant, it feels like we are just a bunch of the same old farts sitting in the corner of the Pub. Don't get me wrong I enjoy chatting with my learned old on line mates but it is hardy the vibrant fora that it could be, certainly considering its affiliation to the brand.

Ditto.
The delay is to prevent spamming, and for the most part seems to be effective, yet when a spammer does get through, it seems to take a while for them to be blocked.

A good spam-fighting method is to block live URL posts until a user has been on for a period of time and a few legitimate posts, but that's a big problem here given that is the only way to post images.

But yes, this is an enjoyable and extremely low-stress forum without the trolls and infighting found on the larger forums.

Absolutely! If we resorted to that kind of thing, with all the usual obscenities thrown in, I'd be off like a rocket. Call me old fashioned if you like!

I've had some really good tips/help on this forum; long may it continue - with or without Fender's input.

Cheers - Peter.

Very fair points Mr S. I hadn't thought of that....it must be my round then. ;-)
