The customer service guy could only tell me that my Strat was made in '84. I'm just curious what the model is. Serial # is E460617 and the person I got it from said he never did any mods on it. It had Gold Lace Sensor pickups on it when I got it from him, but I thought the Lace pickups were not stock until a few years later. Anyone have any ideas?

According to this source, your initial thoughts are correct......

Does it have a Wilkinson roller nut? If so, it might/should be an early Plus from 1987 or 1988.

My 1991 had a Tremsetter and TBX tone pot too, along with the gold Laces, if that's any help.

If a genuinely unmolested Plus, it'll be worth a fair bit more than a Standard - well, certainly that's the case over here. You might have a bit of a bargain...

Pics would help, though, as Jimmy says.

Cheers - Peter.

Pictures would be great, easiest thing is does your Standard Stratocaster have two(V,T) or thee control knobs(V,T,T)?
Two knobs its a Standard CBS Strat built from 83-84. Jack where the third knob would normally go. Freeflyte tremolo or hard tail.
Three knobs Smith era Strat built from 81-83.
Fender didn't make any US guitars for a period of time, until the release of the new American Standard Stratocaster in 1986. Fender Japan continued to produce guitars during the transition years 82-86 and later.

To post pics,
Upload your pictures to a picture hosting web site: imgur, flickr, etc.
Once uploaded to whichever site you choose, there will be a share option/bbc code at the site and the photo will have a new addressable name that looks like this-----> http:/filename.jpg
When you post or reply here; there is an IMG icon above the text area, press the IMG button then
copy and paste the new photo name between the icons, should look like this ----->[img] http:/filename.jpg [img]
When your finished w/ your post, use the PREVIEW option to ensure your picture is visible, if so press SUBMIT.
640x480 is a good size if you have the option to size the photo.
