I just picked up what appears to be a brand new David Lozeau Rose Tattoo Stratocaster Guitar. Strange thing, it has what appears to be a USA Strat Deluxe neck with maple fretboard (not rosewood), and pickups with beveled pole pieces. Every other one of these guitars I've seen is made in Mexico. Were there any USA models made in addition to the more common MIM models? Serial number on the back of the neck starts US15 + 6 digits.

Hi ttm, & welcome to the forum.

As far as I know, the 2015 Lozeau Strats were made in Mexico, but since Special Editions/Limited Editions/Factory Special Runs/etc; don't show up in Frontlines (or global pricelists), there's some benefit of the doubt. (And there is the Custom Shop possibility, but the serial doesn't fit for a CS.)

You can check the serial number here: https://www.fender.com/product-registra ... ial-search
For a US, 2015 serial you should get a result if there was an instrument built with that serial. If not (e.g. if it's a replacement neck), or if you want additional info, you can contact Fender Consumer Relations (via the support pages - email, or the wonderful chat service there on US business hours).

If you want any reliable diagnosing from the forum, you need to post pics. BTW, what was the price level of the guitar?

It might also be a very nice Partscaster, by the sound of the description, and certainly no bad thing as a result.

The originals were really only notable because they looked so cool; but were otherwise just an entry level MiM. Harnessing that cool with top level components would make a killer guitar.

I need to see pictures before I become truly jealous. :-)

The scarier possibility is that someone's made a Dlx (= contoured heel) version of these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10S-Cus ... 73037.html

So the three possibilities... Genuine MiM and nothing special, decent Partscaster, or Chender
Does the serial number show in the database?

Somewhat solved. The serial number shown on the Fender Database is matched to an American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster. (I'm new to the forum so I'm still trying to figure out how to add images taken with my phone.) Plastic is still on the pickguard and back trem cover and production stickers are still on the neck heel plate. Seriously doubt it is a "Chender" but it could be the hardware and neck were swapped from the American Deluxe Ash and then mated to the David Lozeau body. Either way, along with the included hardshell case, I think I came out way ahead for what I paid (I seriously do not think the dealer ever took note of the Made in the USA on the headstock when he sold the guitar). Help on posting pics would be appreciated. Thanks for the responses -- all insights were helpful.

Get the Flickr app for your device.
Upload your pics to Flickr using the app.
Link to the pics in the dialogue box here when you add a reply.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Thanks for the Flickr suggestion. I'll try to get that figured out. Other than Flickr, is there any other way to load pictures directly from one's phone?
...and to answer jmattis, the guitar and case was purchased for less than the cost of a replacement neck alone (as priced at Sw##tH2O, the online music retailer).

NOPE, the photos must already be uploaded to the WWW and/or have an http:/ addressable name.
Flickr, Google, Facebook, imgur all are hosting websites or search and find one you would like to use.
I find flickr easy to use/manage and w/ a very reasonable sign up, free use area.

A mix with an original AmDlx Ash Strat neck and a MIM Lozeau body should be easy to spot; the neck heels are different (contour vs. regular).
Is the walnut truss rod plug as it should? (If yes, it points to a legit neck; if not, the serial could be fake…) And does it have the S1 switch? (That would belong to the AmDlx Ash electronics.)

Another option could be a shop/DIY made "tribute" version of a Lozeau on an AmDlx base, but the price level does not support that.

When you take pics, the electronics (pickup bottoms, pots & wiring generally) might shed some light on what you have.

Here's my usual litany on pic posting:
Quote:
First you need to upload your pics to the internet. Use a pic hosting site (imgur, imgbb or such - avoid photobucket) or some common web framework like e.g. facebook, googlephotos - whatever you're familiar with.
The important thing is that the web site provides you with a pic address - that's the one starting with 'http' or 'https' and ending in '.jpg'.

Copy the pic address, and use the IMG-command (visible when you write a message) on the forum.

Preview your post so everything is OK.
