Greetings my fellow Strat comrades!
I know how to administer basic services to a Strat, but I am coming across a project that I have never done and require a little guidance. I am changing the pick guard on my American deluxe. Is this a simple job I can do on my own or should I take it to a guitar tech? I have never messed with any of the electronics underneath a Strat and I fear I may do more harm than good.

All the best,
Rayne

Do it yourself, it's super simple. No soldering needed since everything is coming off.
Now one thing you should do for sure is measure the hight of each pickup on both sides so that you get them exactly the same with the new pickgaurd. You wouldn't belive how much change a millimeeter will make to the sound, and if you like how it sounds now, you will want to preserve that.

There are several excellent posts on changing a pickguard. Do a search for them.
