No matter what gauge of strings you use, for the best tuning stability we recommend using Fender Bullet® strings. The patented bullet-end is specifically designed for all styles of tremolo use, from extreme dives to smooth vibrato passages. The design allows the string to travel freely in the bridge block channel during tremolo use and return afterwards to its original position, seated snugly in the bridge block. This is accomplished by eliminating the extra string wrap and the ball-end (the ball end doesn't fit properly into the string channel). The bullet end has been shaped and sized to match the design of the bridge block channel.

is that total bull? .. am i fine using elixer, ghs, daddrios, ect ?? ..

That is Fender's recommendation, and yes the strings and block were designed to go with each other.

Use whatever strings you like. There are many that of us that do.

Most strings have a ball end while the fender bullets have a bullet shaped end that fits perfectly into the trem block. It helps with that slippage that can occur with ball ends and cause that PING! as the string slips ever so slightly.

I am a regular changer of strings, and these days I find myself alternating between sets of Super Bullets, D'Addarios and Rotosounds. I was fixated on the Bullets for a while, but I can't honestly say I notice significant differences in tuning stability between the bullet and ball ends (I have a light to middling hand on the trem).

Sometimes I think I am hearing significant differences in tone between the brands - sometimes I think I'm kidding myself. I definitely don't have the ears of Eric Johnson!

I might be more loyal to either the Fenders or the Rotosounds if they helped us out by selling singles. I don't mix brands within a given set - but that is probably just superstition...

I have been using bullets for a long time and I haven't experienced a difference with stability. I like DR strings, and they have performed just as well as bullets in terms of tuning stability.

I also prefer D'Addarios. They seem a little brighter and they last.
