They music that they play is both at about the same skill level and goodness(?) but who is a better bassist?n' why? lemme no and get back at me. :D

I like Geddy Lee's playing style. I'm not extremely educated on "bass technicality" so I really don't know.

This probably either belongs in the Fender Lounge or the Bass guitars forum. Welcome to the forums as well.

Geddy is light years a better pure musician over Geezer. The level of difficulty of Rush's music is significant when compared to Sabbath. Rush's use of odd time signatures alone would make that true. Then - on top of the additional music difficulty - Geddy is the lead singer and also plays keyboards.

Interviewer to Geddy: "Have you ever played a concert high or drunk?"
Geddy: "Are you kidding?? I have a hard enough time doing everything I need to do when I am sober."

Geezer,
sabbath's song writing is far superior to rush's (same reason i prefer budgie to zeplin).
and he's a hometown boy (not really a factor i know)
Geddy is a far better rock musician and displays his talents at every opportunity. Geezer on the other hand is a jazz bassist, search out his early pre sabbath stuff from ronnie scotts, It will give you a more rounded view of his playing. Likewise i bet Geddy lee doesnt get to play every style he knows. You cant judge pro musicians by their band work. They stay in the frame of the band too much, particularly bassists.

This should be in the bass forum but since we're here.... It's like asking who's a better painter,Monet or Picasso, Similar but so different. I admire them both. And for those who overlook Geezer , listent to the old Sabbath albums Geezer Mimics Tony's licks note for note during the solo's , Enough said

Clearly Monet is better - He plays with an unparalleled precision on his string bends. His leads are much more fluid. He also adds a lot of dynamics into his rhythm playing. Picasso's playing on the other hand can be a little sloppy at times, but he does play with with a lot of emotion.

Completely different styles.
Geezer is more of a time-keeper and when he gets a chance throws in a solo-like riff. And Geezer is really heavy with his style of hitting the strings. Geezer's bass is there to set the heavy backdrop if you've heard him with Sabbath or recent Ozzy albums or Sabbath reunions. Geezer is an awesome bassist and beats out the bassist who worked on "No More Tears". Even on the late Sabbath album "Dehumanizer" he still had it going.
Geddy is more discriminating when it comes to how he plays. He also plays solo-like, being a power trio of course.
Both clever bassists.

Agree, both are very talented, but one of my personal favorite bassist is Steve Harris of Iron Maiden IMO. The guy is a machne. Sorry for the mis-direct, I've been on an Iron Maiden trip lately. 8)
