Hello guys! Need help!
I'm about to purchase my first Fender! It's a American Standard Stratocaster, 2011. The problem is that I didn't have direct access to the guitar, and here in Brazil there are many people selling "chinese Fenders" as American Fenders. I've seen a lot of videos and discussions about how to splot a fake, and to me the guitar looks legit. However, something caught my attention in the video the owner sent me: the Fender decal on the headstock looks like an adhesive (I'm attaching a print, where the light reflection seems to show the outline of the sticker). So I ask: in American Standard, should not the Fender logo be painted? Or does Fender use waterslide?
Could you please help me??

Again, posting pics is not rocket science. Maybe I should get a job with Fender as the "Fender forum pic posting cop"? I'd probably be able to work remotely, have flexible hours ...

Fender does use waterslide decals.
Get the serial number and input it on the link at the bottom of this page "Register my Fender" and it will likely return an image of what the guitar looked like when it left the factory.
The database is pretty good for US and Mexican made products after 2000, but every now and then it won't return a valid result.
In that case, contact Fender Customer Support directly and they can provide you with a description that matches the serial number, or let you know if it is a legitimate serial number.

I'm suspicious - it's been standard practise to spray clear coat over the decals for some years now.
You'd notice the edges of the decals if they're applied over the clear coat, but not under it.

The hardware as can be seen doesn't look out of place.
I suspect that it's an after market neck.

Good catch Chris.
I've not looked at modern necks under that lighting. I was looking at the quality of the cut around the lettering being not typical of home-made partscasters, but I didn't think that a "Chender" may use a higher quality decal.

These pics are my August 2017 MiM neck that I bought direct from Fender last Spring.

Fender only puts decals over the lacquer on vintage style guitars; because that is what they did back in the day.

This isn't a vintage style guitar, at least not based on the tuners and string tree, and therefor I am calling "Foul".

I'm no expert at all, but have to agree. The decal would be under the finish for a 2011 American Standard. What I don't understand is why are there so many fake Fender questions? It's not like they are the most expensive, hard to find guitars in the world. Perhaps I can understand a fake Martin D-45 or something really high calibre. BTW, I love my Fender and know it's real. :)

Because dishonest people buy these things from Alibaba for $150-$200 and try to flip them as a $500-$1,000 MiM or MIA instrument.
It's why, when I build my Partscaster using the above neck, the body will be stamped "Partscaster 2019" under the pickguard.
