Besides a maple top and burst finish, does any one know what other upgrades or features are on the GC LTD Standard Strat? I love playing it, just want to know what, if anything else sets it apart. Thanks!

Nothing special really.
Fender does limited runs or "FSR" production runs for anyone who puts in a guaranteed minimum order (100 units or possibly less)
These mods are almost always purely cosmetic. They are just options that you won't see in any other music stores.
Given the price is right in there with the standard MiM production, I'd hazard a guess that the flame maple top is only a veneer and not an actual maple cap.

Still a great looking guitar and something to be proud of.

Agreed to that ... There are piles of these all kinds of different "FSR" guitars, so no big adder to value. However, this one is particularly "showy", and that may do better in holding value than a run-of-the-mill Standard (by a little bit, I mean). Either way, it is a super pretty guitar, and an excellent purchase. Maybe you can post some pics of the actual guitar? We'd love to see it!

The FSR program lets dealers mix&match interchangeable parts from similar models, to create models with a unique mix of factory features.

Sometimes that's something minor, like a different colored pickguard. But it can be the body from one model, the neck from a different model, hardware from something else.

The minimum size of the runs is based on the purchase price -- the dealer has to order at least $XXX. So for a basic MIM with just a different pickguard that would be many hundreds of units, but more expensive models might only be a few dozen units.

The dealer isn't limited to the minimum order of course. They can buy as many as they want.

Or sometimes something totally unique, like the 2011/2012 run (I seem to recall an earlier Japanese run too) of Antigua Strat/Tele/P/J-Bass, later pushed through the Squier Modified Vintage line even in bodies that never originally carried the "pukeburst" like the baritone JM.

Fender themselves occasionally produce some limited-edition FSR's. I remember some years back they were offering what was called (I think) a "57/60" Classic Strat, an Ensenada-made hybrid featuring the 2TSB '57 body style mated to a rosewood neck. There may have been a practical reason for building them -- perhaps they ran low on maple necks -- but they were nice guitars nonetheless and enthusiasts bought them.

The forum doesn't allow upload attachments.
You need to post them on a public hosting site, I use Imgur, which is still free.
Then you can link to them using the "IMG" tags
