I have no idea, but check sites out like eBay and see what the general public is willing to pay for one.

I would say 700-1200 depending on condition.

But what about that scalloped fretboard on the YM model?? I do not see how that makes leads any easier to play ...
Holy moly!!!

I would also like a little more info on the technique for playing the scalloped fretboards. I've never even picked one up but would love to here more from the people her who do play them

You barely have to touch the strings to fret a note. Problem is that too much pressure turns into a bend.

Actually, it doesn't require a technique change (unless you have terrible technique to begin with). It does change your sensation/feedback, because your finger tips don't touch the fretboard.

When you fret a note on any kind of fretboard, you just need enough pressure to get a clean tone. You don't need to push the string down below the plane of the fret tops. If you push too hard, your notes will be sharp. Some people think that the string actually touches the wood when you fret --- no way! Try it and see.

its not so much about " technique"....for playing solos and single string runs it's great, I don't know about pressure, everyone has their own pressure, I play with a bit of pressure on the strings and can't really " play lighter" than I do. but I can fly on this thing and when going fast... it seems like you have a better " grip". When playing jazz type chords.. 4 finger stuff, you can get tangled up a little. the strings are higher off the fretboard and not comfortable for playing something other than barre chords, don't get me wrong , you can, it's just not all that comfortable and you can mis-hit easily. The scalloped fretboard experience is great for lead playing but for an all around electric guitar to do your gigs or as a main-axe, it's not practical unless of course you wan't to be like yngwie or ritchie blackmore! LOL..I will tell you this..It sounds great, it's the real deal as far as a stratocaster is concerned. the tone is everything you've heard before.

An '05 model new selling at almost US$1.5k...and the newer models with the mounting screws at the neck base is almost $1.6k...i guess its all up the condition of your guitar to fetch a good price.
Btw are you planning to sell it on eBay?If so perhaps you might wanna start it at a low bidding price but put a reserve price to it.So if the bid is lower than the reserve price you could withdraw and start the bid again...

Thank you for your advice. I am really curious if it matters at all that the one I have is from 1988, the first year they made them. Is that at all relevant? They are constructed differntly now I guess from what I'm seeing in the catalogs etc.. or do I wait another 10 years until the 30year mark and it's a "classsic" then!

If you're in no hurry to sell it then give it a go......but you can always mention that the one you have is the 1st made model ever by Fender...
