I have a Mexican Fender Deluxe Strat with vintage noiseless pickups. The pickups are noiseless at volume 10 but when I roll the volume to 9 there is a hum coming through the amp. When I take the volume to 8 the hum gets louder and after that gets quieter as the volume goes to 1.

I have tried:
Different cables
Different amps
Plugging the amp into different wall sockets
Putting pedals between the amp and guitar

The hum is still there.

The volume of the hum doesn't change as I move the pickup selector switch.

The volume of the hum becomes quieter when I touch the strings.

Any ideas for a solution would be gratefully received.

IMO there is a ground issue with a ground wire.

Check wire and solder coming from the tremolo spring claw to to the pots body .
Check for other ground too.
Show pictures of these ground

1- Guitar is new or second hand ? New return on warranty
MIM guitar with noiseless PU ; look a mod or I'm wrong
2- Any mods or work on guitar ?

^ This.

I am assuming the PUPS aren't original to the guitar so it could be an installation issue. It might also be that they aren't genuine. Chender guitars frequently have "Noisless" marked on the PUPS - could these be a set of them?

My bad. So many variants it is difficult to keep up.

Sweet looking guitar,

I would take it back to the shop and try it along side another one. If they both do it it might be just one of those things but it should confirm if yours is faulty or not.

It could just be down to perception and, where a single coil might hum like a monster, the noiseless might be doing the best job it can at those settings.

I am usually running this through a Fender Blues Junior.

I tried a few more amp combinations as follows:

Vox headphone amp (battery powered) - the hum is still there

Roland microcube (mains powered) - the hum is still there

Roland microcube (battery powered) - the hum is gone!

What I can't understand is why the hum disappears on microcube battery but is still there on headphone battery.

Has anyone any ideas on this?

What can we say more than;
1- Return on warranty.

2- if you are a guitar tech, just fix this ground.
