In 2004, a guy on another forum with the username of ajbergren compiled a statistical analysis of all the known, reported weights of Fender Stratocasters he could find and reported a range of numbers that applied to 95% of all Stratocasters in his sample set.

Alder: 7.75 (+/- 0.61) lbs.
Ash: 8.45 (+/- 1.20) lbs.

Since Strats have been made using the same materials for decades and are CNC machined to a pretty tight tolerance I think it's probably safe to assume those numbers are still fairly accurate.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

thanks for your answer :)
i didnt notice that those two deluxe have different body materials ^^

So I wont buy the strat deluxe (ash body), i would prefer the roadhouse one (alder body). i found 8.3lbs on a website... my contemporary strat has a weight of 7.3 lbs and i'm really anxious having a guitare that weights that more (i'm a little lady ^^), that might seems very strange for most people ..... but i really want a good and light guitar :)

so if anyone own a deluxe roadhouse , and can tell me the weight :)

I understand your thoughts entirely as I like a light guitar myself.

As they are made of wood, and every piece of wood is unique, there is no way of knowing if any particular guitar will be heavier, or lighter, than any other without picking it up or weighing it.

As noted above, it might be expected that an Alder body guitar will be lighter than Ash, but then the weight of Ash can vary so much that this may not be the case.

I am assuming your Contemporary Strat may have a plywood or Bas Wood body as (aside picking a body and building it yourself) you might be quite lucky to find a conventional timber body Strat that light. My Road Worn is around that, my Hard Tail is probably lighter but the rest are closer to 8 lbs.

Sweetwater lists their stock @ 8lbs 6ounces.

Ash is generally lighter than Alder, but wood varies as does weight.
