Has anyone ever gotten their strat guitar "Plek'd" I hear it makes a difference but I was just wondering if you guys know of it or have a local shop by you who will do it. Any feedback from people who got their guitars "Plek'd"? It simply intrigues me. Thanks.

Amazing! I was just getting round to asking the exact same question. I notice that Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience, a very top-end guitar shop "to-the-stars" in West London, are claiming to be the second outlet in the world to have the PLEK station machine installed, and the first in Europe:

More info on PLEK here:

http://cms.plek.com/en_US/home/

Is this the end of the guitar tech as we know him?

Gonna be very interesting if this thread goes somewhere...

Cheers - C

Really? I saw someone in a different forum had a "Plek'd" guitar done near tulsa, oklahoma. Are those really the only two?

No, no: I just edited my previous post to record the fact that what that shop are talking about is the new PLEK station machine. The latest incarnation, by the sound of it aimed at store-type locations rather than manufacturing. And what they say on their site I linked to is that this machine replaces their previous basic one.

Sorry if I was misleading.

It's been around for a few years - but I haven't come across the results, and I'm keen to hear about it from real end-users.

Cheers - C

I thought they only used a Plek system at the Gibson custom shop. I wonder how long it takes to have it done on a guiter ? I have never seen it done.

Only the Custom Shop and new for 08 the Traditional and Standards get the treatment.
My Traditional is Plek'd and it is amazing, perfect set-up out of the box. Very happy with it. :D

It seem like a cool system but they charge a lot of money in the shops to have it done. The cost is more the likely to cover the intial cost a the equipmet which I would think is high. I wonder if Gibson uses it on any of the Epi's as wel?l I no that some that I have bought have had tags saying setup in U.S. and had initials and a date on them as well as a sticker saying setup in US.

The PLEK site has information on all the locations where their system is installed. Apparently the Gibson custom shop has one, so I guess that neither the standard Gibsons nor the Epiphones get the PLEK treatment. Fender doesn't seem to have one.
The processing takes about 30 minutes. The PLEK HQ in Berlin charges 180 Euros for it. I think I would definitely have it done on a guitar with unsatisfactory action, fret buzz and the likes.
