Judging by a lot of the threads here, it seems the proliferation of different strat models (AKA slight variations) has convinced people that each model is somehow completely different and unique from the other strat models. Even though 99.9% of the parts are exactly the same.

I just think it's interesting to see a thread such as 'How do I adjust the intonation on my EJ strat" or "which strings for my (Joe Blow) strat" as if it would be unique to that particular model.

Just odd that it seems to be more common here- the Telecaster people seem to realize that their particular guitar is a 'Telecaster' regardless of the particular model.

I consider myself a Strat guy with Tele sensibility, if that makes any sense.
Another observation, this Strat forum has 3,343 topics with 30K+ views and the Telecaster forum has 886 topics with 5,714 views. Could it be that Telecaster guys play their guitars more than post on the internet? :?

I think that the strat, being a more "popular" guitar, probably has a lot more players than the Tele, and so therefore, the Strat probably has more less mature players, and probably more so on the posters. They either don't want to do the research, and hit the "search" button, or they are so proud of their guitar, that they just have to make sure that everyone knows that theirs is a "Joe Blow" model, as opposed to just the basic "Standard" model.

The age of the Strat player is probably younger and younger kids might be more tempted to consider the Tele a "country" guitar. Of course that is so wrong it's ridiculous. I'd have to agree, Tele owners are probably older.

I don't know. There are a lot of telecasters out there. It is really the unofficial guitar of country music. Not the prettiest guitar around, but they play mighty sweet (maple fret board especially!)

Actually I think the new Reverend guitar blow the standard (American and Mexican) Guitars out of the water. They don't have the great variance in guitar to guitar like you do with strats and teles. You have to go through a dozen starats or teles to find a nice one and that's not the case with Reverend. Thaey are ALL quality right out of the box!

I have to go with the fact that there are a lot more Strats out there then Teles. I have them both myself but just recently got a MIM Tele for my Son and he loves it he has been playing it more then his Strats, Gibby 335 or his Epi. LP's now I guess some of that is it 's the newest one it is surely not the most costly. He told me that the other day when he went to a Friends house to jam the other three guys there had Strats but none owned a Tele. but they liked his he said. I think it shows that most young when starting to play if they go with a Fender they are likely to own a Strat. before a Tele. Now some of my Sons friends no what they are missing by not having both but some of the ones that stick with playing will own both a Strat and a Tele someday but there will always be more Strats being sold.

Are you sure you don't mean "less more"?
Or maybe you mean "less IS more"?
Or maybe it should be "more more"?

(j/k - sorry, I could not resist...) :D

Strat has FEWER more mature players. Is that better?

Haha! I was toying with that one. But realised that the Strat probably still has a larger number of mature players than the Tele, simply because there are SO many more Strats in the world.

Anyone care to launch a Grammar thread - then we could really chew it over. But probably better not, eh?

Ha! Count me in. I recently saw a t-shirt that really cracked me up. It said, "I am the grammarian about whom your mother warned you."

I think in fenders attempt to be all thingd to all people their quality control has been suffering bcause of it. With Squire being made in India and so many parts comming for so many Asian companies it is impossible from the to have an sembelence of quaily control which is why there is so many variance of guality and sound from guitar to guitar and why these posts tend to have such an immature audience. When you try to be everything to everyone you end up be nothing to no one. That's my opinion.
