Hallo guys,
First of all merry Cristmass and best wishes to you and your families.
Im about to buy my first strat. Its the american deluxe strat 2014, sss, alder rosewood.
I allways had ibanez and I think is the best guitar for the transmision, because its neck has compound radius and feels great to me. The question is this. Even if I have to change everything in electronics, like s1 switch, wiring, pickuos etc, can I make it have the tone of the music I like? I like the classics like hendrix deep purple, pink floyd and of course blues and my love SRV.
I think I can because if I change everything what will stay? Just the woods. But what's your opinion?
Thank you very much guys!!

Why would you buy the guitar and immediately change anything without knowing what it sounds like now?
Straight out of the box, it can sound exactly like all of those examples. The enhanced features allow for expanded tones not available on the basic models.
Gut it and replace all of the parts and you've turned a $700-$1000 guitar into a $400 guitar.
You'll put it up for sale, the potential buyer will run the serial number and see that it's a Deluxe, but lacking the enhanced features, will think that it's a partscaster.

If you want the exact guitar that SRV, Gilmour, Blackmore, and Hendrix played, just buy a basic Am Std SSS or reissue.

Yes you re probably right. I want to have this tone on a deluxe because i feel way better playing its coumpound radius neck than a normal 9.5 of a standard. If I get the tone i like i dont think I will ever sell it. But can I? Is it possible?
By the way how can I check the guitar using the serial number??
Thank you very much my friend

From the link below "Register your Fender"
https://start.fender.com/serial-number
You'll need to create a Fender ID that's also good for shopping in the online store. It's separate from the forum ID.

The easiest and cleanest way to swap the electronics is to simply switch to a pre-loaded pickguard.
Sigler sells loaded pickguards with Fender, Duncan, and DiMarzio pickup options on Amazon for $150-$350 depending on the pickups.
This at least allows you to keep the original parts "untouched" except for the connections to the output jack and the bridge/body ground.

But I really don't think you'll need to. With the S1 switch in the "up" position, you have traditional Strat wiring. The "down" position adds the middle pickup in series with the other two and uses a different capacitor.

Yes I may have the the classic strat wiring with the s1 up but these pickups dont make.the classic strat tone. This is my opinion for the moment, only by liatening to the guitar on youtube because in reality it was unplugged. I hope its sound may satisfy me but I dont think so.. this is why I search for solutions. I may do the one you wrote to me by changing the pickguard. For the moment I am satisfied just to know that I can bring this tone on this guitar by any way.

1 of the 4 bolts won't line up on the neck from a factory Deluxe, but you can easily drill the neck for the 4th hole.
But you can buy compound radius necks that will bolt right up to a standard body... they sell the Deluxe neck pre-drilled with 5 holes so it will work with either body.

The Deluxe neck is about $620. The only other compound radius they sell for the Strat is the Elite, and it won't match up to the standard body.

The pickguard swap would be the cleanest and cheapest way to go.

I have a 2014 AmDlx, ash body, maple board, SSS with the N-3 pickups, and am very happy with the tone - the neck pickup in particular is to die for. They aren’t high gain pickups - if you want tons of dirt, you’ll need a cooperative amp and/or a pedal (a Klone perhaps) but I can definitely get the classic Strat tones out of mine. Hope you get what you want out of yours.

Rich, you have the patience of Joseph with these "I am buying this expensive great guitar that I think I am going to hate, and I want to rip it apart immediately" threads.

Sometimes... but my patience can wear thin quickly. I'm good as long as the poster is willing to do their part, but I'm not going to take *my* guitar apart to take measurements when the poster has the same guitar.
I *did* take a tuner off of my MiM big-headstock neck for someone to compare to their '70s neck for tuner replacement ;)

Guys I just baught it and it's a great guitar. Amazing feeling like I played it for years. The pups are really good. Ok you dont take the pure 100% vintage sound but if you play through the proper amp and pedals you will make it 90% and without noise. They give more than they "take".
Anyway I just want to thank you guys for your answers that really helped (especially Rich's)!!
Have a good weekend

Awesome.
That's how I feel about my Texas Specials... if they were noiseless, they would be my 100% favorite pickup. Very strong midrange, and plenty of gain... right on the edge of breakup with a clean amp setting.

But turn up the gain on the amp and they buzz like a hornets' nest.
