Actually what exact mods do you want to do to your Strat dude? Give me some examples and I'm sure that I can walk you through it without a hitch. Oh and by the way, my Strat is a Shreddin machine because I'm the one playing it just like all of my other axes that I play man. Just check out my www. button and you'll see there. I don't need effects or low action or anything like that to be clean and fast, it'd just be nice to add some little features like a floyd that all of my Jacksons have had in the past or a few more frets, but I am growing fonder of the standard trem that the Straight Six comes with :D . I'm kind of getting the feeling that that's where you're coming from as well. Are you really a "Shredder" or do you just like the style? A TON of people claim to be shredders without anything to back it up like actual audio of just a single guitar track with NO EFFECTS so you can hear EVERY pick and mistake (if there are any) and do it with one take only like Yngwie does.

Like I said before, what exactly do you want to mod man? Tell me and I'll gladly help you out bro with instruction and even pictures if necessary...

Are you the person I was referring to about changing your strat all up? I could relate to the volume knob position...I'm constantly turning the volume down on accident! I'm trying to get used to that as I won't even think about trying to move that. But I would if I could easily. I'm also tryin to get the hang of having the middle pickup. I love it for it's tone but I'm constantly picking into it. So I hear ya bro about wanting to change things up. I checked out your website...that's some nice shreddin' there. I like your tone.

Actually Shred, it wouldn't be all that hard to move the location of your volume knob. As you're making your trace to send it off to get your pickguard made, change the location of the hole where the volume would be to where you think would be more suitable. They're making you a pickguard made off of your drawing anyway, so if you want it moved, they're following where you put it.

Why? Well, i've found that it's hard to find one guitar that does it all for you with respect to style, tone, etc...

I agree. The only guitars I left bone stock were the ones that did not really move me.

Hey bro! Yeah I am that dude that wants to build my own Strat in a different way, but I'm pretty happy with my Straight Six at the moment, especially for what it cost me to do it. I HATE how most manufacturers put the volume knob right in the way! Look at MOST signature model axes from any manufacturer and you'll see that MOST of the endorsees have the knob down and out of the way, so wouldn't you think that it would lead them to suspect that a TON of other players are looking for that simple solution as well? Apparently not because they are too lazy to re-tool anything. That is an easy fix in your particular situation to move that knob out of the way as you're going to have a custom pickguard made. I'd suggest to get rid of the middle pickup and add a humbucker to the bridge position as well as losing either one or both of the tone knobs. None of those are really needed. Thank you BTW for checking out my ideas as I have literally hundreds of them, but most of them just scare people away it seems as far as trying to get a band together which seems really unfair. I'm also jealous that you're going to see TESTAMENT!!! They're one of my all time favorite bands and Alex totally rips!!! I love the song F.E.A.R. off the new album "The Formation Of Damnation"! Well I'd better get back to mowing my stupid grass and cutting up more firewood for winter so...Later I'll be in the studio like every night writing more stuff and totally shreddin' out though :D ! Keep rockin' brother!!!

The VG is a totally unique guitar. With all the electronics in it, I think I'd just leave it along and enjoy it for what it is.

Anyone thinking about moving the volume knob on a VG better look under the hood and see if you have room under there. I have a VG and wanted to make my own pick guard for it until I started to remove it. With the Roland Synth there, there is not a whole lot or room for anything else never mind moving a knob over even a fraction of what you think you can. AND if you have a wire come off, there is no wiring diagram out there that I have found that can tell you where that wire belongs. That Roland Synth has a lot of crap under that hood. Be careful. I will get into it when I am feeling adventureous.

OK, well it's been 5 years since anyone posted here, so I'll assume no one cares. But-- I just modded my VG so it will run on external power. I just run a small CD power wire from a wall wart up my guitar cable and plug it into the jack. Pic here:

Nice!

With this guitar and the VG5, I wonder if anyone has modded
them with a 13 pin connector using the internal electronics yet.

Could you detail photo the interface of that power wire in the battery box as well? I see a female jack at the end of a cable but don't see it's relationship to the circuit you've designed.
Does this also permit you to switch from battery to AC as suits you?

Thanks.
