The simplest question first: are the strings the same as when you bought the guitar?
If yes, try new ones. If not, did you buy similar strings as the factory stock ones?

I have a 2008 MIA Strat that I noticed in the past year that it doesn't seem to have the treble it once did and the volume pot have a big jump in volume from 7 to 10.. where 10 starts to give me some treble back.

this guitar is way quieter than my $50 Chinese clone strat that sits in the trunk of my car for wife shopping practice.

I took it to the store where they tested it (without me around) said the guitar was fine, but I find it's 10db quieter with the same amp settings that all my other guitars (yes most others are humbuckers, except for the Chinese clone)

I'm trying to get a RS Guitar Works 280k volume pot and in PIO cap for this thing.. but RS hasn't had any pot's in for months..
so I've just ordered a WD 275k pot and cap from a local store, never tried WD Pot's we'll find out if this makes a difference.

So the current strings have been on for two months? That is probably the issue.

I had a listen, and I'm intrigued with your use of the world opaque.
I'm also mindful that English is not your first language, and you might be using Google translate to find words to use.
I will assume that you mean lacking in clarity when you use opaque.

I heard string tone lacking in the zing and high overtones that you get with new strings.
You need a new set of strings - the ones on the guitar sound dead.

Hi Eracer
just an update , i have tried few mintues ago my guitar with 2 amps (30W and the second valve marhall 60W) ,all my amps set to volume max , eq ->flat , no overdrive

and my guitar volume have a big jump from 8 to 10 !
i have never used my guiatar volume because i own a volume pedal , but form 0 to 7 it doesn't increase the volume , i can increase the volume from 8 to 10
thanks man!

hi
opaque dull , i mean lacks of treble ,it 's not bright , there are lots of bass and middle

i have changed 2 days before i have recorded the clips , d'addario 46/10 , i can replace but it will be the same
hi guess there is in the neck pick up or something wrong in the eletronic or my guitar is gone/dead
tomorrow i will buy elisir strings , i guess they are brightest strings compared to d'addario or ernie ball
thanks Stratmangler
appreciate your help

Hi Drugus

You mentioned that your guitar is MiM.
What is the tremolo block made of?
A steel block might be in order - I have used D'Addario EXL110s for decades, and they are (a) long lived, and (b) very consistent in quality.

I have found that the quality of parts in Fender models below a certain price point to be lacking.

My own MiM Standard (early 90s) benefited noticeably from having the tremolo block block switched out for a steel one.

I could hear each pickup selection quite clearly. Not knowing how it sounded before, your guitar sounds normal based on what I hear from the clip.

You practice while your wife is shopping, or you use the Strat to practice shopping for wives?

Hey drugus .....

You have still not addressed the question raised by jmattis about your strings.
Are they still the same set of strings that you put on right after getting the guitar?
If so, then change them.
Don't go off on some tangent looking at the electronics as the source of the issue until you have absolutely 100% verified that it isn't just a case of old strings.
Your pots don't "go bad" in a couple of months even if you play your guitar 24/7.
Your strings however can and will "go bad" in a few months.
Maybe longer, maybe shorter.
It depends on how many hours a week you play and how dirty/sweaty your hands are when you play.

Change your strings first.
If that doesn't bring it back to being as clear and bright as it was when it was new then you can wonder aloud if there's something wrong with the guitar.

One more thing.
Have you been adjusting things on your guitar?
You tweaking with things like saddles and pickups?

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

hi
the guitar came with fender 42/09 strins , i changed after 2 or 3 day the purchase with 46/10 d'addario
i change strings every month , or even every 3 weeks , i play 1 hour every day
i haven't touched the pickup , but i have changed the height of the saddles 2mm each string, so i have an action of 2mm for every strings
I change strings often same result
the guitar become opaque , few treble , not bright after the summer
i haven't played my guitar during the summer ,it was in the rigid case insime my wardrobe
thanks
