Hi Folks!

I picked up an all original '76 Strat in mint condition over the weekend, and noticed when I got home that one of the tuning peg is shorter then the others.

It works as expected, just that the G string peg is short. Any idea if it something that can be corrected? Is it simply pushed into the casing?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Not normal, you need a new one.
It is just another bad QC from Fender :(

I realize that the 70s Fender’s are notorious for their QC, and I realize it’s not normal. I’m just curious if anyone has ever seen this happen. If so, is there an easy fix?

The tuner works fine otherwise... I may just swap it with the low E tuner to make it stick out a bit less.

Cheers!

That would seem to be the best option for now.

Easy fix but expensive ; buy a new set of tuner

Or write to Fender Consumer relation, ask them to send you a new unit

Update ; forget my answer it is not a reissue

That would be my solution, and you will have the advantage of stagered tuners.

Ya, my suspicion is that the tuner has already been replaced.
I'd swap it to the Treble "E" rather than the Bass "E"

If Fender is out of them I think I saw some at Woolworth's. Or was it Ben Franklin. Damn, I forget......

Indeed so. I misread it.

If it's from 1974 it's from the good ol' bad ol' days of CBS, and nobody will have given a flying funk.
I'd leave it as it is, cos it's kinda funky. 8)

Flying Funk. If that isn't/wasn't a band name it really should be. LOL.

A search would suggest that, while there is a compilation album called Flying Funk, there isn't a band. So he should be good to go. ;-)

Obviously I am claiming intellectual property rights and would be happy to licence the name for 7½% of all takings, or Half a Crown, a Marathon and a pack of Woodbine's per year which ever is the greatest. :-)
