Man, as long as it sounds good I don't believe it will matter. Just remember Jack White plays a cheap Danelectro and knocks it out the park. Go for it with what makes you feel good!! 8)

Hard choice. I would go with the Fender, seeing as it is (depending on it's age) probably sounds better and is hopefully more reliable. That's just me though. Good luck

Take them both.....see how the gig is going and you can switch back and forth.

It's a competition, not a beauty pagent. Play the guitar your most comfortable with. Their judging your music, not your gear. In time you'll be more comfortable with the American guitar, until then put your best foot forward and rock the crowd!!

Take the squire. Its proven itself in the past, and your more comfortable with it. Sound is the soundman's job. Let he/she set your amp or atleast make em advise you on what adjustments you should make and dont mess with the settings after they have sorted it, even if it does sound strange. They will get the sound that sits best with your band and gets you heard all over the room, not just onstage. 95% of your audience couldnt tell the difference between a squire and a 59 les paul. Appearance isnt important, performance is. I gigged a squire for years, I still use it now. Anyone who gets snotty about it not being a Fender isn't worth talking to.

I pull out my Squier during gigs pretty often. Its pickups are the only ones I've ever played that work for an original song where I have to tap out harmonics with my right hand while fretting with the left. All my other strats just aren't as effective when making the sound.

If someone's going to dog your strat, just remember you're the one on stage, not them.

Yo,
I recently traded one of my Ibanez's for a nice MIM standard strat upgraded with the schaller locking tuners and a Duncan Mini-bucker in the bridge. The only problem is I bought an old used '80s Kaman GTX20 strat copy for cheap to see if I really wanted to go strat. The damn copy turmed out to be a real player but the tone is much sweeter on the Fender.

A lot of times I can't decide which one to play and flip a coin, but playability usually wins out. Better tone won't help if you can't play it the way you want to. Don't worry about who's looking at your axe. What counts is what's coming out of that speaker when you're working your mojo.

I just dropped my Fender off at the shop for the professional setup. The same guy who set up the copy will set up my Fender......

My experience tells me to stick with old reliable & comfortable for gigs
until you are confident enough to try the new axe live...
Another approach if possible is to practice with the group alot with the
new one to get comfortable by then.

All that matters is the show!
Think about it like this...
Some group gets on stage with cheap instruments & rocks the other bands sox off at the show.
Then after the show, u hear some guy trying to put that band down
cuz they have less expensive or "nice" equipment.
Next... most everyone has the same thought...
That band rocked them off the stage even with less or crappier stuff.
Now your squier just made u look good. HA!
