If you really want to find out, and don't mind your strat undergoing some invasive procedures, you can weigh it (with the neck and hardware removed, of course). I realize that this may be a bit extreme, but it is common knowlege that alder and poplar have differing weights. Poplar, if I'm not mistaken, is lighter. Google the weight for a standard strat body made in various tone woods or try Warmoth's catalog. They usually provide schematics like weight for their products.
