It's weird looking at brand new and shiny chromework, complete with factory stickers on the neckplate, along with plastics that are squeaky clean and new.
That looks like a fashion statement, and a dubious one at that.
You should have played the guitar like you stole it off someone, and the wear and tear would have at least been genuine.

As you may have guessed, I'm not a fan of wrecking perfectly good guitars, but only doing half the job makes thinks look even more suspect.

I’m getting to it, working crazy hours on call at the hospital.

You will have to take them off the guitar to stand any sort of chance of doing them properly. A case tumbler or stone polisher is a good way to scuff up the surfaces prior to applying hydrogen peroxide. Or, once scuffed put in a sealed container with superglue.

Thanks for the tip
I’m gonna buy some strings this weekend and remove hardware.
Pick guard and plastics will be worked on also.

What are some good methods for ageing plastics that won't look like it's simply scratched up?
Obviously, starting with "aged white" (or "mint" gaaack) is a good start, but that still is not going to provide color variations that you get from 40 years of random application of smoke, bourbon, and daylight.

Less is more ;-)

Pickguards don't get scratched under the strings so it is a good move to mask that off before you start. You do get pick rash and marks round the knobs so wire wool or similar is good and you want random scratches over the rest. Don't go mad though as realy they just have a patina rather than extreme damage. The good thing with pick guards is if it goes wrong you can buff it out again or replace it.

Shoe Polish is good for discolouring, it tends to rub off after a bit but does get into the scratches. I have heard that wood stain works well but haven't tried it myself......yet. I have tried cold tea bags with some reasonable results and have heard of people marinating guards in trays of cold tea for a time.

40 years of smoke and bourbon sounds like more fun :D

For knobs and pu covers I’ve always used black coffee
10 minutes
Works great,
I used a little bit of shoe polish on the headstock to give it a aged appearance.
It gave it a slight a asymmetrical darker shade along the outer edge.
For the hardware, I’m gonna try using vinegar.
To see how that works.

+1, I have to agree with Arjay.

+1!

That jack plate and bridge shine brighter than my Rolex and the pickguard reminds me of brand-new PVC tubing at Home Depot.

As it stands right now, I rate it as an epic fail.

It will do nothing unless you break through the surface first and even then vinegar on its own isn't going to do that much unless left for ages.

Hydrogen peroxide white vinegar and salt work quite well as a mix. Superglue vapour is an absolute monster.

Ya, vinegar is a very weak acid. Muriatic acid would be faster, but it is extremely potent when not diluted and can easily overcome you... don't even think about working with it in the shop.

But before anything is done chemically, you do need to tumble or blast it to break the surface. Again, less is more... overdo it and you'll be left with a satin surface. You want it damaged enough so the steel below appears to "break through" when you chemically "rust" it... but you don't want it looking like it's been in the corner of a barn.
Genuine wear from use, even if the paint and neck are worn to crap, those instruments are generally in a case when they aren't being played on the road. At home, they might be on a stand 24/7... but that's only going to expose them to dust, which dulls the plating... but doesn't actually "rust".

Stew-Mac sells parts that are already aged, and IMHO, they are a pretty good representation of the wear found on a well-played instrument.

I pretty much agree with you altough tuning knobs can get sweaty fingers on them and my top three saddles and the two upper rear pick guard screws on my guitars get absolutely mulered by sweat. Elsewhere there is little reason for rust although there will be wear and tarnishing.

It's another case of good reference photos being gold to ensure you get it right and not just produce a theme pub version of an old guitar.
