I am assuming the video shows a prototype with the mounting plate removable for testing/rewiring....

My understanding is the switch is removable to swap over tone cards; so the kit would need to include the bespoke pocketed pick guard.

I think opening up an existing switch slot would be a right pain as it (the original slot) is too narrow to get a file in but the slot would make cutting a new slot more awkward than if it wasn't there at all.

I didn't catch that... I just watched briefly and saw the pickup combinations, didn't see that there was any "magic" in the switch itself.

A simple jig and a Dremel would make easy work of enlarging the slot.

That part of the demo was quick, the swappable side of the switch is definitely a possible weak point. It has to be a keyed/tabbed part to prevent rotation, being its held in w/ a centered screw. Still wanna see the hard wiring/soldered portion, but the more gimmicky the part the less likely it is to work efficiently. Maybe it would work better as a switchable pedal(as humorous/crazy as it sounds?).

Wow! A whole new product for Fender to manufacture for two years and then give up on.

It wouldn't be difficult to achieve though with individual feeds from each PUP to the pedal.

I had been wondering about an internal switching using digitally controlled anolog relays. You would still have an anolog signal path but any combination of switching....and probably still only end up with three settings you actually use. ;-)
