That turned out absolutely beautiful.
The gold hardware really works. The black knobs are good. 3 gold knobs might be a bit much, and 2 wouldn't look right.

The black and gold definitely works-really nice job, now play the hell out of it.

Indeed so, as I am and enjoying every minute of it. There are some finishing touches that I am considering but thought I had better get some photos before use takes its toll.

Thank you all for you kind words and encouragement throughout the build.

Suffice to say every time I walk in the room it makes me smile. And every time I pick it up I smile more.

After many year of threatening I have finally got around to converting my old 3D Printer into a CNC Router. The printer was little more than a small commercial CNC machine with an extruder head attached so it was never great as a printer and fortunately not too difficult to convert.

First job has been a commemorative back plate for Fish Face. It isn't 100% perfect but will do for the moment.

I may well get some single ply black and re do another with multiple string holes as appropriate for a 50's build but that will be a job for Ron (Later Ron).

Very tasteful, John!

Definitely a worthwhile addition.

Thank you for your comments chaps as always. I filled in the lettering with gold paint and it looks pretty damn spanky.

Some single colour black arrived this morning so I shall run off a more 50's appropriate design and see how that feels. I like the "Fish Face" but I think the other text font is perhaps a bit modern for the 50's so might change that as well after a bit of research over what might look appropriate.

Still not perfect-perfect but on a 60 year old guitar it wouldn't be perfect (#greatexcuse)

The gold leaf (it is gold even though it doesn't look it in the picture) didn't go quite as I wanted, and I might yet run off another one to have another go, but otherwise I am much happier as I feel it is far more 50's looking.

Frankly I don't think the roman-numeral formatted build date is all that appropriate.

+1 the roman letternumbers
If it were mine it would say:

"Created by" is certainly more appropriate. You did far more than simply "assemble" it.
You envisioned the finished product, procured parts that fit that vision... and most importantly, applied the finish.
"Assembled" implies that you bolted parts to a pre-finished body.

As for the roman numerals... I think they're pretty cool. I assume the "IX." refers to it being your 9th build.
If so, "IX.MMXVIII" is a cooler serial number than what I've used in the past, which were things like "xx19950004" where "xx" are the initials of the person I built it for (built a few 212 and 410 speaker cabinets in the 90s)
