Awesome guitar! The neck is the best part of the EC Strat. Satin finish with a V shape and the vintage frets let’s you run a super low action.

I have a red EC. Played with a band at an open jam with it the other day and found that the stronger (and noiseless) PUPs and the preamp were huge advantages. Playing onstage i think was Clapton’s point of reference when designing the guitar.

I’ve read reviews both professional and laymen and some don’t like the tone vs more sustain trade off. The EC has its own tone and I far preferred the enhanced sustain on stage soloing and cutting thru the mix with a presence!!

One thing you might consider doing is lowering the PUPs. I did that and it made a pretty big difference in tone. And I swapped out the synthetic nut for a bone nut. Guitar sings now!!

Very nice! Hope taking the stickers off won't leave you (or hasn't left you) with white(r) marks?

As an aside, is that the 32-track Tascam? Any good? Does it have MIDI? Can't seem to get an 8-track multitracker with MIDI nowadays, for some reason. In my rather low-tech opinion it makes synching drum machines impossible - a right nuisance.

Cheers - Peter.

Thanks guys, I am blown away by this guitar, it feels so good and plays like a dream. The sounds you can get with it are amazing, and very inspiring.

I agree Jason about the neck, and I like that it’s all satin finished. Can’t put it down, it’s such a joy to play. I’ve got the pickups set to 8/64” on the bass side, and 6/64” on the treble side.

No white marks on the pickguard Peter, plastic peeled off nice and clean.

The Tascam is the DP24SD, it’s a very good machine, doesn’t have midi though.

Not all V-shaped necks are the same.

That particular V profile is patterned after the neck from an old Martin dreadnought Eric Clapton played extensively in the 1970s and early-to-mid 1980s.

The EC model was designed by George Blanda. Eric only gave the necessary feedback to the R&D for the specifications, including a redesign of Paul Gagon's "Elite" active circuitry and a set of Gold Lace Sensors (replaced by Vintage Noiseless pickups in March 2000).

The neck has spoiled me. Whenever I play anything other than the vintage low frets I don’t like them, or a C shape or a gloss finish lol.

Thanks bluesstrattone, just recently purchased this one as well, (Torino Red). I have to say these are very nice guitars, so glad I went for them.

How do you like that Hendrix Monterrey model? How are the pickups?
