I have a few differnent tones i can get really easy that I'll share. IF any of you guys have some good tones that are fairly easy to achieve post them.

I'm using MIM strat

1. (Like this the best) Roll your second tpne pot all the way down to 0. Use the Mid/Bridge combo and some distortion. Sounds fat, kinda buzzy. Different.

2. Same as 1 just in the Neck/Mid pos.

3. Same as 2 but turn the top tone to 1 and the second to 10.

The only problem with sharing tones is that different pickups and different amps have different tone. Your settings won't sound the same on my rig as they do on yours.

Actually they wouldn't. Some amps are middy, some are bassy. Some are solid state and some are tube. There's a huge difference in tone. Stock MIM pups don't sound at all like alnico V pups or ceramic pups. I'd have to respectfully disagree.

I know from past experience. I've got two amps, both tube, and I can set them up the same way vol, bass, mid, treb. When I move from one amp to the other the tone is completely different. So many things affect tone. Open back or closed back. Speaker design. Speaker size. Different power tubes.

Thats long been a tool ive used for metal tones. Unfortunatley it doesnt work on my hotrod. The scn's respond differently to regular pickups. strange i know specialy when it works with my humbucker equipped guitars too.

I would have to agree. I have different guitars and different amps, and none of them sound the same at all. Even when I just change amps, I have to changed settings on the effects pedals, to try and duplicate a sound from one amp to another.

As far as the guitars (they all have different pickups), I can pick one of my amps, and each guitar will give me a totally different sound.

For as little as I use them, I should try disconnecting mine too.

How much does it change the tone?

Hello Rock Star,

All my controls are always on 10.

I make adjustments at the amp.

Cheers.

"All my controls are always on 10 " had been my modus operandi, too. It has only been in the last few months that I have been playing with different positions on the 5-pos selector along with the tone. I agree with the thread originator that there are lots of useful combinations.
