Exactly - with the only difference being the dual humbucker rout, side mounted jack and 4-knob arrangement.

Hey there, John. Congrats on your project. Whatever colour you choose I’m sure it’ll be a looker.

If you choose blue here’s a colour I chose. In 1973 I custom ordered one of these only to have it re-routed across the country because the colour was in high demand (long story short). Mine ended up being white with black.

The car in the video is Electric Blue, the interior ordered was white so I know how stunning that combo is. Stunning enough that with high demand I had it stolen from under me.

FSB

Good call on Warmoth chromeface. Good blues there too, Rich.

With Warmoth the possibilities are endless, including a triple hum configuration with coil tap and split.

Fender did a triple hum Cabronita boasting a set of Fidelitrons and a J5 Tele Deluxe with a trio of Wide Ranges.

Interesting Tele type knobs. I'm currently of two minds which way to go with knobs ... a long way down the road yet though.

I like the screw in trem arm bung. I'm getting some of those (and some more tension springs).

Butterscotch Blackguard for a true 50's look!

I'm feeling it.
Yes, nice!

Or what about Surf Green / aged white, or Fiesta Red / parchment? Either can be got from the Fiat 500 colours from the last few years (as well as several other 50's American car-type colours).

Cheers - Peter.

Surf Green with aged white pickguard and chrome dome knobs would be cool, especially on a maple neck TS hybrid with triple hum config.

It has to be old school so that counts out any modern finishes. There are a lot of nitro finishes available but I am after something understated. Butterscotch and single core black appeals to me because of its traditional roots. I do quite fancy trying a tobacco burst though so I'm not counting that out and it has similar old school overtones.

Part of the reason for the build (entertainment aside) is to fend of the Strat Guitar Hero overtones. As I have mentioned previously, it is strange that, although only a couple or so years younger, Strats have Guitar God overtones that Teles don't. You strap on a Strat and people expect something special. You don't get that with a Tele.

I want a guitar that blends into that back ground, not one that shouts "Look at me." I'm still reviewing the Butterscotch. As so few original Butterscotch guitars exist "out of captivity" (so many having been repainted over the years) I am thinking a two colour burst might seem less showy.

Black plastic parts on a tobacco burst body look good.

Oh yes, sorry John - I missed the 'nitro', which of course you won't get in the Fiat 500 spraycans.

Anyway, I'm sure whatever you wind up with, it'll look great!

Cheers - Peter.

I hope so Peter. It is a project of some concern. In the end, despite a fairly significant cost for parts and materials, the finished instrument will be worth next to nothing. If it isn't a good play it is money down the drain.

Odee was the complete opposite. I knew it was a great play, was cheap and I just didn't like the way it looked. OK, so I got carried away with hand wound period correct PUPs and all the period correct details I could get my hands on. It is still a 60's Road Worn though so it will still have value.

This new guitar, because it is strange, won't even have the value of a Partscaster.
