I would suggest the picture method BMW suggested and an exact one for one swap. Test drive. Then proceed w/ cap change.
As far as the cap replacement goes, you only need to swap the cap that is connected to the neck/middle pups.
I don't know your exact guitars wiring diagram but the #2 500k tone pot is likely only connected to the bridge humbucker.
Is your #1 250k tone pot controlling both neck and middle or neck only, I prefer all my pups connected to tone pots in order to have a little more control in the 2/4 position.
The Area pups are stacked buckers and using 250k pots usually requires the capacitor to be roughly halved to accommodate the pups frequency range. Imo, they sound better w/ the cap range Arjay suggested.
Also while your under the hood, if your guitar doesn't have a treble bleed it may be a good time to try one.

Got the new pickups last night. Not actually sure about them. They actually are similar to Fat 50s. A little warmer and a little beefier. An improvement to what I am looking for but not quite sure yet. Played with pup heights a little. Eq'd amp etc. Think I will have to play them a while.

Make sure you try them w/ different pup heights(fine tuning was required for my taste and a better balance) for best results.
I haven't played Fat 50's, if your comparison is accurate my apologies. But I hope they work out to your satisfaction.

Yes I did vary the heights of pickups quite a bit. I believe I found the " sweet spot".
I will need to play them for a while. Don't want to react too quickly without giving them a chance.
Here's hoping!

You may find the noiseless performance of the DiMarzio's to be particularly appealing.

Yes I have to admit they are VERY quiet. So far just used at home but I imagine very good at venues.

That's what brought me to them -- the DiMarzio's are as quiet as a church mouse under virtually any conditions where crappy power and noisy electrical equipment is prevalent. Plus they sound a helluva lot more "Stratty" than Fender's SCN's or Vintage Noiseless.

I agree.
As far as silent singles go, it’s pretty tough to beat the Dimarzio Areas.

As for Fenders silent single offerings, I think I have tried every incarnation of them and I still think the Vintage Noiseless from 15+ years ago were the best sounding.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Played for about 90 minutes last night. It is sounding a little better to my ears. Messed around with amp EQ a little more, adjusted pedal settings. They do sound pretty good.
They just might stick!
