I would expect the serial number on that early model to be embossed in the neck plate.
I'm not sure ABS was used in those years.
Do the pickup covers and knobs show the usual signs of aged plastics? I would imagine they'd be pretty rough after 65 years.

Prototypes and the real (I mean *really*) early production Strats featured the serial number stamped onto the plastic trem cover. IIRC only the first hundred or so instruments were so marked before the location was changed to the more familiar neck plate. You may recollect that early Telecasters and Broadcasters had their serials embossed on the bridge plate before they too were moved to the neck plate.

February of 1954 would be really rare. Serial number for that particular guitar if it’s original will be from 0100 to 0207. As for the body date it will be somewhere under the pickguard, or under the tremolo back plate.

Post pics if you’ve got any.

Nothing to go on that makes it a PRE PRODUCTION, yeah if it all checks out it's certainly an early production guitar. Still love to see some pictures of it, any chance you'll post a couple?
