Hello guys!

I'm new to strats (I'm more of a LP guy). But I have recently found this strat and I'm considering to buy it. It's a Feder, apparently Made in Japan.

The serial number is JV51172.

Do you have any information about the body wood? (I have a preference for Alder body)
Would you help check if it's an original one?
Would you buy this one? The price is about $1400.
Is it a "good" one?

Thank you!

Looks like a legit early Japanese '57 reissue.

It seems to be an authentic one. I'm reading the informations at 21frets as well.
I'll post some audio here if I buy this guitar.

Well, I'm sorry for this extra post here (I think it's better than create another topic).
I was offered another one Japanese Fender Stratocaster. But I didn't find any information about this one. The guys also changed the pickups for a custom 54 set.

Here it is:

Crafted In Japan
V035001

Reading about it I've found that serials starting with V should be "Made In Japan", not "Crafted".
Anyone knows anything more about it?

I'm going crazy with all these japanese strats.

The JV guitar will maintain its value, or even go up and is considered the top of the line Fender MIJ. The 57/62 models are the most desirable as far as collecting and playing as well. The CIJ models while well made are certainly less valuable.
If you have the chance, play them both and decide from there.

The JVs served as a platform for the first batch of Squier-branded guitars and basses.

George Harrison is best known for playing a sunburst Squier JV '57 during the historic Prince's Trust concert which took place @ Wembley in 1987.

By another point of view, the Fender Japan production was one part of fighting the quality downfall of the CBS era, and JV's (Japan Vintage) were the first high-quality result…

The documentation of Japanese serials is not perfect. And, since the MIJ/CIJ/MIJ changes included manufacturer changes, some info may have been lost in the process.
I have seen a CIJ, V-serial Fender bass, of which I'm as sure as can be was legit. But any discrepancies should be checked further. And, a serial number alone is just one indicator.

Well, you could save yourself some trouble and choose something else. For a price between the JV (1400) or the V-serial (half of the JV?), you could get a second hand MIA or a brand new MIM. Or even a brand new MIJ: https://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric- ... -in-japan/

And my usual nag about pics straigth on the forum, please. Let's see if it works with imageshack:

Yep. At least the preview shows the pic.

FYI FMIC closed the venture with Kanda Shokai and Yamano Music in 2015 and took over the distribution of Japanese manufactured instruments.
