I couldn't take it anymore so I just ordered this beautiful Fender Player Series Stratocaster Plus Top - Aged Cherry with Maple Fingerboard. I'll have it Thursday or Friday.

Beautiful!
Fender isn't doing the "Foto-Flame" anymore, that's a real veneer, right?

Great one, congrats!

I like how they are using the same overall specs as the American Standard/Professional, 2-point trem, vintage style bent saddles, spaghetti logo, 22 frets...

Pretty cool!

And IIRC, they feature delta tone (Tone control for the bridge pup) from the factory!

Yesterday I went to the local GC in order to try some LPs Ended up playing one of these for 2 hrs in different amps

Couldn’t put it down. Loved it. The PUPs are really great. Pos 2 and 4 are really nice.

I'm not feeling the white on black, but otherwise a very sweet looking axe.

I don't know what the alternative plastic configuration might be though. Perhaps swap the white for aged white to mimic the maple or go black for the 70's retro look?

I don’t know, I think that’s pretty sharp looking. Aged white would look good too

I would go for a white pick guard myself but the black pops too.

That's interesting, John. Now that you mention it, the white on black does stand out a bit. I think I'll look into the aged white. I have some aged white knobs so it will be an easy comparison. They just might make the different colors flow together better. Good eye!

The white pick guard pops a little too much for my taste. It's not a bad thought, though, and you may prefer this look. This is a sunburst but it is similar looking to mine which is aged cherry:

Yes! I thought about that for future mods. I'm going to leave this one as-is, but I've said that before.

I paid $598 for this brand new guitar delivered. IMO, Fender did very well with this one.

Yep, that’s what I’d go for. Has a vintage vibe to it. That’s the I played the other day. PUPs were super nice. Played thru a deluxe reverb reissue into the tremolo. Tube sweetness

I’ve long wanted a “Brownie” type guitar. Love ECs tones with Derek and the Domjnoes
