Hello. I own a MIJ E-series Strat. I’m trying to date it and find a value for it just to satisfy my cusriosity. It is an E9, so in theory, that should tell me it was made in 1989. However, I’ve read that the E series was made from 1984-1987. Most of the E’s I see have a skunk stripe. Mine has no stripe. Mine has a 4-bolt neck plate that says FENDER in a plain, sans serif font. Maple neck. Synchronized tremolo. Serial number is on back of neck where it bolts to the body. Any info would be great! I bought it around 1993 for $125 cuz it resembled the Jimi Woodstock strat! (Mine does not have CBS logo or skunk stripe)

MIJ serial numbers of the older period are type "letter + digits"; they don't tell the year.

Other than that, ID'ing a guitar - let alone dating it - requires plenty & high-res pics, at least for me.
Pics of all the things you mention, plus headstock both sides; neck heel/pocket; insides (wiring, pots, switch) etc; the more the merrier.

I have found that Fender Consumer Relations (consumerrelations@fender.com) has been very responsive in providing information based on being provided the s/n.

You could try here:

http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

or:
E + 6 digits = 1984 - 1987 for MIJ guitars. Much different than US models.

There's no way to post directly to the forum.
You need to use a third party image hosting site.
Upload your images to the third party site, and you can add links to the images by copying the image location, and then using IMG button on the forum and pasting your image where the cursor is.

I use postimage for hosting my images https://postimages.org/ , and so far they have been very good.
One to avoid is photobucket, as they tried a ransom manoeuvre a little while ago and tried to charge users a substantial annual fee.

As I said, click on the IMG button, and paste the copied location where the cursor is, and images appear as below

Nearly there - you need to post each image individually.

I'll go wild guessing:
I'd lean towards 1986-87 with the manufacturing year, with a possible overlap to -88.
The model is most likely ST-67 - which was sold in the US as a '68 Stratocaster re: Hendrix of course.
There were several models (different pickups & such), so the pics of the electronics might help further - and of course there should be a model stamp in the neck heel & pocket.

The price depends a lot on where you live, and lately the prices seems to be all over the whatever mode. Asking prices over 2K, but sold items for below 500... (In my 'hood, 800€$£ would be common for an old MIJ, with 200€£$ variations.)

Oh nice! That's an incredibly helpful start! I like to think you're right. Now I have the motivation to disassemble and peek inside to confirm. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

You're welcome.

I'm fairly certain it's a Japanese '67 maple cap reissue.
The thing that didn't sit well with me was the neck plate having Fender in that typeface, but looking around the 'net there are piccies of a number of different examples.

I had similar reservations about the double string trees - the USA made originals only had one - but again, looking around the 'net there are piccies of a number of different examples.

If you do take the neck off for a peek, undo the scratchplate and take pics of the body routings and markings, and the underside of the scratchplate and pickups will tell us a great deal too.
