My first Strat was black, with maple neck like the one Clapton played for so many years. I named my guitar Jennifer because every girl I met named Jennifer was very pretty and a pleasure to be around.

My Les Paul I named Sarah after a slightly tough looking but very beautiful and feminine woman I met and whose family I am friends with.

Looking at getting a Tele, I know a pretty girl named April who is spunky and who is a good singer. I think the snappy Tele will be called April when I get it.

How about you?

I name my guitars.
In my signature line below, top to bottom:

Harry (Harry Harmony)
Kay (obvious)
No name (ongoing Partscaster yet to be named)
Sally (with Harry...as in "When Harry met Sally")
Jeruk (it's Indonesian for 'orange' because the Sunburst is very orange, and it's made in Indonesia)
Ginger (because it's red)
Amber (because it's amber)
Rogue (I know...not very much imagination, but whatever)
No name (just got this one, and still figuring out it's personality)

For me; some guitars are easy to name, and others have to be played awhile for inspiration on the name. Some of mine have some thought put into them, and others are simple no-brainers. It is what it is.

Hmmmmm.....perhaps this thread should have been posted in the Lounge; it's hard to believe I'm the only one that names their guitars.
I thought this one would take off on some form of conversation. It's definitely more interesting than some of those topics that seem to never leave the top of the Lounge page ("Good Night" & Good Morning" to name a couple)...but maybe that's just my opinion.

I quite often do but then forget what I've called them with the exception of:-

Odee (O.D.) - Stands for Old Dog - The butchered 62 Road Worn off eBay that I thoroughly sorted and love.

CW - Stands for Curly Whirly - The swirl painted MiM FSR Thomman Anniversary model bought new. Looks awesome but we just don't seem to get on. I keep thinking about selling it.

HT - Hard tail -Obvious really.

Blackie - I don't want to call it that but it just stuck

L>R Odee, CW, Blackie, HT, No Name

Odee's looking great, John! Have you posted more pics at some point? I'd love to see them! :D Cheers - Peter.

Clapton still plays black Strats with maple necks, but not often.

It looks superb but we don't really get on, which is a shame.

I'd forgotten I'd called this one Tinkie Winkie because it is a Tele Tubby.

Nope.
Guitars and cars... I'm not famous enough to name them.
"The Strat", "The Sheraton", "The Taylor", "The 12-String"... if I have more than one, I go by color, "The Pukeburst" (Antigua)

No Names as per-say
Being I own 2 electric 6 string, 2 acoustic 6 strings and 1 old Hofner bass, I would say something like this:
It's Straty time, for the one Stratocaster I own or It's SG time for my Epiphone SG, or maybe I'd say lets play the bass, or let me grab the Alvarez, in my opinion, I don't think that would qualify as a name per-say

My tele was gifted to me by William - my sister's BFF; so I chose the name "Bill"; for which William is over the moon thrilled 8) .
