I really like Fender products. On their web-site it shows the new Player's Strat in Buttercream with a "Limited Edition" sticker on the back of the head stock. I would like that. None of the other colors have that?

https://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric-guitars/stratocaster/player-stratocaster/0144503519.html#prefn1=series&prefv1=Player&cgidx=electric-guitars&start=1

Yet the ones on the web for sale don't have this badge, kind of discourages my interest in a new purchase. Oh well, I guess I don't need another guitar. I would like a limited edition.

The buttercream color itself is the "Limited Edition".
It is likely that the examples online are using stock images for the back of the headstock and not the actual buttercream model.

Yes, I like that too! Is it a MIM or MIA? I'd guess the former - or have I missed something?

The blue looks like Lake Placid to me - very nice too! I had a '95 LPB years ago and would like another!

Cheers - Peter.

The "Player" series is MIM.
It is replacing the "Standard" series.
"American Professional" replaced "American Standard" earlier.

Thanks for the comments. Here's a link to some pictures. The color seems like vintage white to me. I just happen to like that color. I'm thinking about it. Everyone has their favorites. I hope Fender doesn't discontinue the color by the time get around to buying one. As CB mentioned, the color may be a Limited Edition, but it just doesn't have that Fender LE sticker.

Even if you scroll down for the description of the guitar on the Sweetwater page, it shows the LE sticker on the rear view photo. Oh well, its just a sticker.

It's really just a replacement in name only. It is still basically an MIM "Standard". They added an "F" neckplate and a couple of other minor items. $50 more and still no gig bag, the guy who's thread I linked to didn't get a tremolo bar or allen keys.

They have to keep increasing prices to keep the line profitable. And credit to Fender for adding the 22nd fret, new pickups, and a better trem in this model (so I kinda disagree with the "replacement in name only" comment" - just my opinion, though). But - from a marketing standpoint - it does not bode well when people (like me) can recollect that MIM Standards were $400 (incl the gig bag) not that long ago. So, I get the name change, and appreciate the added features. Fender seems to be on a good track to me.

Also ... I am pretty sure that the Buttercream color is a standard offering. If you want a "limited edition" just wait for them to come out and monitor Guitar Center. GC always has tons of limited editions.

at Thomman in Germany, the Player sss version is at 598 €, the vibrato stem and the trimming keys included, only the cover is missing.
However, there is no great difference in sound between the old Standart and this Player. I really like the logo on varnished head.
The tremolo block is not massive like the US versions.
If I had to buy this new Player, I would put him a thicker block!
Which dimensions used, metric, like Standart, or inch?
For the Classic Series, I liked the inch, for the interchangeability.

Yup, no LE sticker.

Love the color. It looks a lot better than in pictures. Gloss finish on the front of the neck and satin finish at the back. Not as smooth as the MIAs but definitely almost similar feel. I don't know if the previous Standards came with Alnico pick ups but those pick ups are great! First time I've played with those with the PLayer.
