Hi guys,

My question is regarding a Strat' that I can not find any details on, I have been offered a Fender "Silver Series" Stratocaster from 90-91 but can only come up with info on Squier Silver Series Strats.

I have been told by someone online that there was a brief time that these Silver Series Strats were branded as Fender and then branded as Squier.

I checked the Serial Number and it comes up as "Fuji-Gen 1990-91 Made" but otherwise I am at a loss for details.

Any help or info you have on this Guitar would be appreciated.

Cheers.

I'll quote myself from an earlier topic ( https://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=106987 );
"I'm not aware of any Silver series Japanese Strat confirmed to be a legit Fender, but I've seen too many with the original Squier label replaced with a fake Fender one. The neck pocket/heel stamps could solve this - and if the body is wood fiber, it's a Squier for sure. ".

The guitar in your pics looks nice, the bridge pickup is not original (and I'd say that goes for the pearloid pickguard, too), so the buy/pass decision depends on the price - after you check the neck pocket/heel.
And pics on the forum, please. Like this:

There's a mini-toggle switch allowing coil tap and split abilities for the Duncan JB Jr.
