This 5 way switch was given to me because I broke mines. It comes from a USA fender. It has a capacitor like the one you can see.

The capacitor looks like this one:

but in the bottom it says 153J 1630

What's the point of this capacitor? My idea was to remove it, but who knows, maybe it is doing something interesting

Never seen that before myself but I’ll hazard a wild guess.
Something to do with an HSS configuration.

yeah it is across the bridge part of the switch so that idea or anything modifying the tone of the bridge pu is possible.
Anyway looks like a mod and not required if you are going for anything like standard wiring.
