I posted a thread here a few months ago telling the story of buying an American Strat for my son from the year he was born and just putting it away for him until he gets older - Well, I got photo happy and took a bunch of pics lately of my guitars and thought id post this one on here to share

My 1975 (birthyear) Strat and my boys 2005 Strat

So it'll have a closet classic finish on it by the time he's old enough to play it. Good thinking.

Why didn't you go with the maple fretboard?

Yours appears to be in excellent condition - when exactly did you start using it?

That is extremely cool, even if he doesn't become an intense player.
Don't let him have it til he is older.
Just hide it! lol

Very cool! I have a big coffee cup with the year of my birth printed on it that my dad bought that year - not the same thing at all, eh? If I had a Strat from the year of my birth - well, I could now retire on it!

Please take those stickers off, though, or you'll have unsightly marks there by the time you wheel out that guitar on his 21st birthday (or whenever)...

Cheers - C

Cool, I would love if my dad gave my an electric one, but he gave me his acoustic from when he was a kid, no brand name on it, which is still cool.

Very cool idea. Ironically 1975 is my birth year and 2005 is my son's birth year. I have an 04 American Strat in sunburst/rosewood that I will pass down someday.

Yeah, but the only difference is that it sounds like YOU are going to play the crap out of it before the "pass down".

YES! take the stickers off! Great idea, I'm sure that when he is old enough to appreciate, he will be very happy. Make sure he knows the history.

Oh yea, he will know the history - I have pics of him with all my guitars - he loves playing them - he is only 2, but he tries to hold them right and everything - I let him strum while I play chords and he gets a kick out of the "noise changing"
